Two Pairs Of Nobodies (the European finals thread)

Post by prophet:marginal » Tue May 28, 2019 9:16 pm

Obviously, delete or move if appropriate, but maybe we can use this for the two matches coming our way, to finish of this season.

My predictions:

Arsenal on pens

Liverpool, in the 90.

By the by, its interesting to note how Emery is dealing with Cech's position. The keeper retires for good, in a long and distinguished playing career, at the final whistle tomorrow, only to then start a new job, back at Chelsea, on their non-playing staff!

Here's what Emery has to say about it: “I respect him a lot. His career has been amazing, first as a person, second as a professional goalkeeper. He deserves trust in him because his career says to us he is a gentleman. He is a great man and a professional. It will be his last match, and I want to do something important with him in the last moment of his career.” Worthy sentiment, for sure. but its a touch risky, Shirley? What if he clangers it up at the most critical moment of the match? Emery will never hear the last of it.

I regard the 3rd and 4th place PL playoff, the Non-Champions League Final. **** em both, but **** Spurs a touch more in this instance.

Chelsea will probably buy themselves yet another Cup, even against Emery rich pedigree in their competition.

Riots outside both Stadiums, whatever the results.

As much as I don't like Spurs, I am hoping that in the last seconds of added time VVD puts a back pass through Allison's legs for the winner. That would provide weeks of entertainment on the radio while we wait for the season to start.

Liverpool to rip Tottenham apart ala Watford in the Cup final while I belt out YNWA.

I actually really like Sarri. Love the way he just walks off after Higuain and Luiz argue. I reckon he's gonna lump one of them tomorrow if there's another league cup final scenario.

Spurs/Liverpool is a win/win.

One of them is going to lose and end up with **** all from the year. Happy days.

Marginally, I'd prefer Spurs to win. 20 games lost this season will make the whole thing look like a glorified League Cup, and Liverpool - especially Klopp - ending up with nothing would be delicious.

I'd prefer Chelsea to beat Arsenal too. If it wasn't for Lampard, I wouldn't give a toss about Chelsea.

Arsenal and the dirty scousers for me.
Only because I hate Chelsea and Spurs more. The asteroid storm is still my favoured result.

Looking forward to both games tbf.

Got a couple of Arsenal mates currently stuck on the tarmac waiting for their flight to Baku to take off. I don't mind Arsenal at all so hope they have a successful journey and win. Plus it will annoy Spurs fans if they get in the Champions League

As for the other game. What a horror show. What a terribe choice. It has been amusing seeing all the Spurs fans I know scrabble round for tickets. Some successfully, some paying lots of money and some giving up. As much as I dislike Liverpool and Klopp I hope they win. Spurs winning the European Cup would be something that can never be taken away from them and would be unbearable IMHO

FWIW I think Arsenal and Liverpool will win

Not that I care... But an Arsenal win, and a Spurs loss is probably the only situation I can stomach, simply because it's double disappointment for Spurs.

Well I for one will be glued to the telly tonight.

'Summer of Rockets', (BBC2) last week's episode was really quite good.

I want either team to win by 4 or 5 tonight

Not for the celebration but for the others pain

Probably funnier if Arsenal lose, I loathe Chelsea, but if it’s Arsenal, they miss out on the CL don’t they?

Arsenal for me, as a big fan of Lacazette at Lyon, quality team player

Liverpool I think as I don't know any scousers, far more Tottenham in London, be unbearable although if Tottenham do win I hope it's some ridiculous own goal from Van Dijk or Salah, just something hilarious

I want Spurs to lose at the weekend by 5 or 6, and to be down by 4 before half time

I want it to be so crushing they understandably never ever talk about it

Really don’t want Arsenal to win so fully behind Chelsea tonight.

Saturday is a bit of a no-win situation so just hope the game Saturday is as entertaining as previous rounds

Taking tonight first, and putting aside for a second our sense of loathing, which of the two teams is actually the strongest? Its one of those things where, if you combined their squads, a first eleven would be a lot stronger. However neither has a defence that you can count on to keep a clean sheet.

This makes me slightly back Arsenal tonight; Lacazette* and Aubameyang will be too strong for Sideshow and Sons, Shirley?

*I agree with fm, here; Lacazette is one of my favourite strikers in the game at the moment.

I've got a hunch it's Arsenal and Spurs who'll take the wins.
