92 "Proffesional"(not including clubs outside top 4 divisions) just feels like to many to be maitained
And yet they have been bungling along quite happily (for most of the time) for how many years?

I would imagine that their supporters would be more than happy to follow that path.
Believe it or not these clubs have history, heritage, and pride in their name. They represent their locaility and are not a franchise.
Bury are proud of the fact they have won the FA Cup too.
Long live the Shakers.

For that nickname alone they should be kept alive.
Its pretty unique I would imagine.

I think the EFL had a statement ready to go saying Bury are out and what will happen etc and this at the last minute has thrown a massive spanner in the works.

RIP Bolton. I can't see how they will be saved at this point, with potential takeover collapsing at the last minute.

Bury preparing for Doncaster and in need of volunteers
BURY FC are preparing as if they will host Doncaster Rovers next Saturday and the Shakers need your help.

The EFL have extended the deadline for C&N Sporting Risk to complete their takeover until 5pm on Tuesday.

Should the deal not be done, and the prospective new owners have warned there are real challenges, then the Shakers will be thrown out of the Football League and face possible liquidation.

But the club are planning for a positive outcome and need help getting Gigg Lane in a fit state to host the game.

Volunteers are being asked to be at the stadium from 9am on Tuesday morning to help clean seats, sweep the stands and undertake a variety of jobs.

That will just be the start with a busy week ahead should the takeover get the green light.

“Whilst the EFL and our potential new owners proceed with their necessary paperwork and dealings, the club needs to prepare the stadium in order for Saturday’s EFL Sky Bet League One clash with Doncaster Rovers to take place,” the club said.

“With Tuesday’s deadline firmly set, preparations for our first game of the season will commence at 9am on Tuesday morning.

“Recent events, over the summer months, have left the club with just a skeleton staff and we must, therefore, call on voluntary help in order to get the stadium ready.

“The club is appealing for volunteers to report to Gigg Lane from 9am on Tuesday morning to commence work on cleaning the stadium. All 11,640 seats need a clean and all four stands need sweeping out.

“Can you help? If so, please report to the ground – armed with buckets and any cleaning materials if possible.

“Tuesday’s task is to clean all the seats so the more people that help, the quicker this will get done before we can move on to other areas of the Stadium.

“The club is moving into matchday preparation mode, despite the Tuesday deadline, and your help is very much needed and appreciated.”

From the BBC
The company which was attempting to buy Bury Football Club, C&N Sporting Risk, says it is "unable to proceed" with its takeover of the League One club.

Bury, who had been given until 17:00 BST on Tuesday to complete the deal, now face expulsion from the English Football League.

The Shakers would become the first team to drop out of the EFL since Maidstone's liquidation in 1992.

The EFL said it "continues to be in discussions" ahead of the deadline.

"The league announced at the weekend that it was working exclusively with the club and C&N in an attempt to finalise a change of control at the club," the governing body said in a statement.

"However, following a period of due diligence, C&N have opted not to progress matters.

"The league continues to be in discussions with Bury FC in advance of today's 5pm deadline and will provide a further update as appropriate."

More to follow.

Said it before, but this is so sad. Seeing the volunteers out there cleaning the stadium today upset me more than I'd have thought - there's such a great community spirit and it's all going to get pissed on from a height by one man's selfishness and greed. Disgusting, it really is.

Bury, Bolton, Portsmouth etc. IMHO puts our gripes into stark perspective. Not that you shouldnt complain, but the real villians (Fifa, Uefa, PL, EFL, Sky BT) get off Scot free. EVERY supporter in the land should be shouting from the tooftop at the consistent rape of the working mans sport and heritage. But instead of protesting we blindly support (unconsciously) the multi billionaire individuals and corporations that are a cancer to our sport. These clubs have supporters as passionate as you or I and yet who really cares? Tomorrow we may be arguing about which multi billionaire should buy us or how much net millions we should have spent on a defensive midfielder etc. when our neighbours are being pillaged. Food for thought, at least for me.

Imagine following a club that's on the verge of going out of existence, knowing your owner already turned down a buyer as he claimed he could get a better deal. Looking really bleak now.

His organisation is partly responsible for this madness...If Accrington, Aldershot and AFC Wimbledon can come back then Bury can...
