Morgan & Lansdowne; except that they turned out to be not very good!
Isn't that a law firm in Basildon?

I still don’t think Ashton was THAT good (as as god like as some posters on here think he was)
Yeah, I find it slightly amusing how he's had an almost god-like status bestowed upon him. Don't get me wrong, I think Ashton was very, very good and he should've gone to the 2006 WC imo. But how good he really was, or how good he could have been, we just don't know. He got crocked very early into his career with us and when he made his firs comeback, I remember some people getting on his back for being too slow and sluggish (Carroll-like criticisms). It was hard to know if that was his injury showing through, or he just wasn't quite as great as we initially thought.

It is just a shame what happened with him. He may have developed into a top, top striker - but who knows! I loved him when he was here though.

There were also a lot of rumours that he wanted to leave btw. No idea if there was any truth in them!

Whoever said Paul Kitson is a good shout btw. He's someone who I think would've scored a hatful of goals for us if he also didn't get so many niggling injuries.

I think Ashton’s reputation was enhanced by the 2006-2007 debacle. Combined, our strikers (Zamora, Harewood,Carlton, Teddy and Tevez) did okay, hit just short of 30 between them, but we could never get the right combination and people always felt Ashton was the missing link. He scored eleven across all completions the following year, and got capped.

It makes sense he was venerated as there was a lot of evidence of his quality.

Jimmy Greaves.

Was definitely on the wane when he came to us; still bagged a few goals though!
"on the wane"? On the piss more like! But, yes, could still score.
