Franco - could have been really good had we known about him earlier.

Actually, and possibly not completely popularly, it was probably Lampard Jnr.

Who was the last player, never mind striker, that scored more goals for us than he scored in his career?

Is that a trick question?

Of players we had in their prime so to speak, it's Ashton for me. At the time of his injury he was at his physical peak. Pardew and his backroom team had really sorted his physique out. Antonio could benefit from some of that. If you listen to that video and also that of Jack Wilshere it shows what hard work, mental toughness and dedication it takes to try and come back from injury. It's why that Newcastle leach will never get my respect. He was a shirker who was only interested in getting his coin, actually earning it out on the pitch week in week out was an optional extra.

Of those past their best, good shout on Franco. Wish we had had him in his prime.

Than elsewhere in his career? Sir Carlton of Cole of course!

To be fair, in my opening post I did say:
Perhaps we shouldn’t limit it to just strikers too.

I would put Kanoute top of my list.
In the last 20yrs..... I'd be inclined to agree.

Ashton for me.
He started at my local club and therefore I watched his progress 'up the league' with interest.
I was delighted when he signed and feel we were robbed of his best years, which I understand, eventually may or may not have been with us.
Slight thread crossover here but on the England/West Ham thing, he's a reminder why it's always West Ham.

That cup game at Manchester City though.....

Jimmy Greaves.

Was definitely on the wane when he came to us; still bagged a few goals though!

Kanoute w/DiCanio

Kanoute was still too young, while DiCanio was a couple of years too old.
Same with Defoe.

If only those three had been in their prime at ours...
