Your top three free kicks

Post by Up the Junction » Mon Sep 23, 2019 11:13 am

Aaron Cresswell scored an absolute belter to help West Ham beat Man Utd 2-0 yesterday...

But where does his free kick rank - if at all? - in your list of favourite free kicks scored by West Ham players over the years?

Show us your top threes below...

Payet vs Palace. The best free kick a West Ham player has scored in my lifetime without a doubt. Still defies logic.

Payet vs Man Utd. The second best free kick a West Ham player has score in my lifetime. You just knew it was going in as he stepped up.

Diego Tristan vs Stoke. Beautiful hit. Effortless.

I also loved the one Lampard scored back in the 70's when Brooking ****ed it up for a volley over the wall.

Agree with S-H.

The man utd one was the only one I thought for sure it was going to go in as soon as he stepped up to it.

The palace one was probably better technically, the amount of dip is still impressive to watch.

I liked Payet vs Man United in the cup, the sound as it hits the stanchion - beating the best goalie in the world (at the time) from the distance.

I was in thr crowd for the one vs Palace, and it just defied logic.

Tony Gale vs Liverpool in the league cup, more because of the occasion / opposition at the time, but still a great free kick.

He scored some other good ones in that clip too, our Payet of the 80's :D

Gale's against Liverpool should have been disallowed I think. Wasn't it indirect for dangerous kicking? My favourite was the Brooking/Lampard one against Wolves in '74. My era.

Probably not in the top 3 but got a real soft spot for Diego Tristan away at Stoke in a one-nil win. Pulis' boys trying to kick lumps out of a Zola side trying to play pretty football, this was the difference and we held on nicely.

Payet v Man Utd. Cup game - Even my Mrs went 'Oh my God' as it hit the net. Was still getting messages from my mates who support other teams for the next hour. No other goal has ever done that.

Payet v Palace - probably technically better, but the other was on live TV. where it was made it something pretty unique.

I would say yesterday. Me and my mates all thought the first one was a sighter - this one is going in and to see it then happen was just fantastic.

Paolo v Watford at home in PL 11/9/1999.

Can't find the video but it was the cheekiest thing I've ever seen. went round the wall the "wrong" way. Tight angle, wall left looking stupid, keep completely stuffed.
