Czech Republic vs England

Post by hammers92 » Fri Oct 11, 2019 3:32 pm

Looking forward to this one tonight which should be a decent test. Still a lot of question marks for this England side at the back, should we play with a 2 or a 3 at the back? And who is going to stake their claim to be the creative spark in the middle? Rumours are that Mount will start tonight ahead of Barkley.

Also loving how Alli, Walker and Lingard have been dropped for poor performances as it should be.

2 - 0 England for me

Really look forward to watching England nowadays, especially with Sterling and Sancho as our wide players, really is an exciting team.

I still think we are vulnerable at the back, so I'm going for 3-1 to England.

Hopefully we will see another mature display from Declan.

Definitely need to find a better option than Barkley. Somehow conspiring to not deliver in an England side crushing things in this campaign.

Expecting a comfortable victory. A clean sheet would be nice.

The starting Xi that's being reported must surely be the youngest England XI in history.

Also, I remember a period in the late 90s when Czech Republic used to be a very, very good side, with players like Nedved and Berger.

Hopefully Rice can start replicating his club performances with the national team – he has good moments, but it hasn't quite happened yet in terms of a complete performance. I'm not sure Henderson and Rice is a great pairing as it puts a fair amount of pressure on the third member of Southgate's preferred three set-up to dictate the pace. You need someone superior to Barkley in those circumstances.

Perhaps I haven't watched Maddison enough, but is it *really* too much of a stretch to accommodate him there? Southgate seems incredibly reluctant to deploy him unless it's as a classic number 10.

Have to admit, i do enjoy watching England these days, especially away from home.

Still not sure about Southgate though....i really hope he doesn't pick that plank Keane again...there are many centre backs out there better than him....also that plum Pickford...at least he has seen the light and we have no Delia or that Jesse....

Shame Maddison has withdrawn....with Sterling, Kane and Sancho, the attacking threat looks good and hopefully Foden gets some more game time and can slot in with Mount, either side of Delan....still with Hudson-Odoi and Rashford on the sidelines, Lewis Cook getting his fitness up, Lofthus-Cheek getting fit and many others pushing for places.....i like that Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves too....very decent player....

Hopefully they can all start gaining more Premier League game time and push that horrible Spud, Winks, further down the chain...i'm going for a 1v4 scoreline, Sancho, Kane (2) and Mount

Looking forward to this, should be a decent test. I think Southgate is slowly but surely working out his best side, Mount coming in for Barkley is a no brainer and a good move for the future. Pleased he has finally gotten rid of Dier, Alli, Lingard and Rashford from the starting 11 - none of that lot are good enough. Just centre backs to sort out now you feel. Shame Gomez isn't getting much of a run at Liverpool as he was looking good for a time.

There are some shitty teams in Europe these days, in world football too for that matter, that I don't really know what has happened that are so few decent international teams around any more. Nowadays, there are only a handful you can honestly say are any good

One really poor pass, one heavy touch and then at fault for the goal. Not a good first 10 mins for Rice.

England look great going forward but awful at the back and West Ham look great going forward but awful at the back. Common denominator?

Remember when England's biggest strength was it's centre backs. Butcher, Adams, Terry etc. At least we could defend corners.

Now we look as fragile as anything on set plays

I've always said it, Vic.
England = West Ham
West Ham = England

West Ham are the most English of football teams, whoever we've got playing for us, we have the same mentality.
Capable of beating anyone, on one day. Capable of losing to anyone, on another day.

Absolutely no leadership or composure at the back or in midfield is there.

Have to say, however well he’s played for us, Rice looks out of his depth at this level on the evidence of the last 1 and a half games.
