maybe someone else could listen to the interview too !! after all my hearing and eyesight aren't the best.
I am 100% PRETTY sure he says "We didn't play well", but it is not completely easy as he kind of mumbles as he talks.
then when you read it it says of course "We DID play well..." the interviewer begins with - how disappointed were you......so it makes more sense....

I agree. The 3 midfielders are producing the square root of eff all at the moment so try something different.jastons wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 6:42 pm I asked the question after the Palace debacle - is it time to play two up front? There is no point in having 'creative' players - Anderson, Fornals, Lanzini - if they are creating f*ck all. There is no point in having a lone striker surrounded by defenders and dropping deep to get involved.
Our next game is at home v Sheffield Utd. We should definitely start with two strikers.
Haller is used to strikers playing off him and so does Ajeti. They are not used to being the lone front man.

Both need to hugely up their games.Absolutely Hammered! wrote:Sat Oct 19, 2019 6:44 pm 9 games in and no goals for Anderson or lanzini... just weird
Anderson has not scored for 24 premier league games, that is an incredibly poor return, whilst Lanzini has 1 in 15 since returning from injury.
Both are largely ineffective on a far too regular basis, I’m surprised Anderson gets such an easy ride. I saw a poster saying the other day all Anderson’s season so far needs is a goal, a truly baffling statement.

West Ham are making us all feel older, Cuenca.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 6:56 pm 71 next week so I could say that age is catching up with me - but I won't !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There were only 2 positives for me today. Roberto probably had his best game for us (but should have stopped the first goal).
At least it wasn't a home defeat.
Sorry, that's the best I can do..
Oh, hang on, there's still at least 3 teams worse than us. Probably.

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread
I'm amazed Anderson was the one to get the hook at HT. The whole side were poor, but he at least tried to drive forward and make things happen. Two or three times he nearly slipped someone in. You can argue he should've made more of those opportunities, but then again he was the only one getting in the position to do so.
I'm a fan, but Lanzini is doing nothing to merit a starting place this season, and looks a shadow of the player he was. And as for Fornals, today was a low point in a desperate run of performances. I feel for him really, he's so out of his depth.

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread
f*** me that was a long round trip to watch that rubbish.
We were poor today , working the England keeper just 3 times, woefully insufficient if we were ever serious about wanting to win. They in contrast had clearly been given a shoot on sight instruction and Roberto did himself proud, making a couple of fine saves. He was one of two players to come out of the defeat with any credit, the other being Issa Diop.
The midfield simply isn't working, in every sense. With us starting with Haller as a lone striker the midfield need to chip in with some goals, and it's simply not happening, nor is it likely too given the fact they hardly ever get in the oppositions box.Today Everton were better than us in every department, quicker to every second ball, stronger in the air, had more pace, got players forward in numbers and crucially had more desire.
This result means we're now 4 points adrift of the corresponding fixtures from last season, and the manager is starting to bring pressure on himself, leaving Yarmolenko out of the starting XI while playing the big money signing Fornals.......who is probably getting a game due to the manager knowing if he doesn't pick the high price players he's already signed, the Chairman won't give him any money for additional players in January.
Crucially we need two or three new players to provide competition for places, far too many of the starting XI today are automatic choices, and thats reflected in their performances.Anderson, Lanzini, Fornals, Haller......not one of them today did enough to secure a starting place next week, yet at least three of them will almost certainly start.
And that's the problem right there.
Pellegrini got a yellow card from me after the City thrashing........at the mid point of his deal, would I be happy for him to get a new deal ? I'm not sure I would be.
A bad result today, a worse performance.

Back from scouseland
Relegation Roberto - sorry the fella is gash. Simply isn’t good enough for this level. Bravo any of you positive petes who want to take 1 or 2 decent saves from the fact his distribution, positioning and concentration levels aren’t premiership. He’s a bargain bin risk purchase based on Fab being a brilliant number 1, and we’ve been caught out. He’s legit Allan Macknight levels bad. We’re in a lot of trouble in this position until January.
Fornals is like some sort of Matt Jarvis & Pablo Barrera hybrid nightmare love child - call it knee jerk from the journey or whatever - I have been sadly saying this for a few weeks - the fella has literally NOTHING about him - and it’s not so much the body language, or the psychology of trying to understand a young lad in a new country - he literally looks like he’s completely out of his depth - like he’s simply not good enough to be playing at this level. Proper worrying.
Rice looked like he’s had his confidence knocked by England. Unusually poor today.
Anderson and Lanzini were worryingly poor for a consecutive game. Lanzini remains a player living on promise more than product - we remain his level.
Our fitness levels and possession today were appalling - bizarre how our previous most worrying area (the back 4) have become the least of our problems and were majorly letdown today by those in front and behind them.

There should rightly be questioning about Fornals and what’s causing him to look so painfully pointless. Enough evidence of previous to suggest he should be showing something .. but there’s nothing there.the pink palermo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 7:24 pmthe manager is starting to bring pressure on himself, leaving Yarmolenko out of the starting XI while playing the big money signing Fornals.......who is probably getting a game due to the manager knowing if he doesn't pick the high price players he's already signed, the Chairman won't give him any money for additional players in January.
I mean we let lads like Grady and Cullen go, and this fella looks like a very very bad day at the office so far.

As Bubbles is pointing out elsewhere on here, the midfield is a mess, the manager refusing to make choices.

Yeah his staunch mentality is starting to letdown the clearly more stellar lads like Diop, Haller and Rice in that team.
Haller especially must wonder what he’s signed up to

The problem qhich ia the same for the past x number of years is we don't have the player we need.the pink palermo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 7:35 pm As Bubbles is pointing out elsewhere on here, the midfield is a mess, the manager refusing to make choices.
Either
a) a powerful all purpose athletic central midfielder like Doucoure
Or
B) a proper, disciplined DM who sits and does nothing more than sits in front of the CBs , breaks up play and covers for the full backs
We don't have either of those players. Well we have Sanchez for B, but that hasn't works out so far
I would be tempted to play Sanchez and Rice vs Sheffield United

My worry is that I think he will think Wilshere is the answer.
I'd like to see us try 3-5-2, but I don't expect Pellers to change.
