The comments here about his eyes and hair have an air of racism about them, similar to the 'pineapple on his head' stuff aimed at Jason Lee. Doubt this is malicious given the posters, but do be careful with what you are saying.

Why are you bringing race into it?

Bravo S-H, made me

Re: Zaha. Gets a lot of penalties and free-kicks, I don’t like him or his attitude. Don’t really care about what he does away from the game, he’s only playing for the Ivory Coast because he couldn’t get in the England set-up, fact.

Ultimately, we have a player who has been sanctioned for spitting (Masuaku) and one sanctioned for diving (Lanzini). Many on here seem to have no issues with either player continuing to play for us.
Just for clarification... I was at that game in Wigan, and have said ever since that I don't like him playing for us. So I'm currently delighted at Cresswell's recent turn of form.

Ok I’ll backtrack gloriously here, he chose them over us (according to reports.)

So that makes me like him even less.

I've got a friend (white) with eyes exactly like Zaha's - when we were walking down the street the other day he got shouted at by a large group of kids that he had 'n-word eyes'.

Same with the hair comment - had a black friend at school who got told he had 'n-word hair', that his masters should use him as a mop etc. Same style as Zaha.

I don't think there was malicious intent in the comments here, as I said, but there can be an interpreted racial connotation to comments such as 'his eyes freak me out' or 'his hair is weird' that people perhaps need to be wary of when posting, in my opinion, and given those two incidents I didn't feel comfortable not commenting on this.

That is unbelievably weird.

Maybe it's just me then. Anyone else heard of racist eye comments?

I don't think that any of the comments on this thread are in any way racially motivated.

I think a fair amount of the press he gets probably is though.

Whether that press has an impact on people's opinions of him is a debate that would probably descend very quickly.

Leeds city centre (well, just outside - down by the canal).

Agree it was weird, but we were also a bit ****ed out by it - especially as Leeds is pretty diverse as a city. Never heard anything like it before - as Lasagne says, heard it with Chinese/Japanese (what's the old school rhyme about mum being one and dad being the other?) but never like that. Not sure if it's A Thing or just this bunch of teenagers being weirdos.

That's proper weird. Never heard anything like that having lived in Leeds for a few years. Wasn't down by Brewery Wharf was it or more Armouries way?

It’s not an entirely made-up fact it seems. I had an inkling. :)

“ Palace boss Alan Pardew said on Friday that Zaha had been "pushed forward, probably by his agent or people around him" to make the change but could "understand his frustration" at not being picked for England.

"There aren't many other English players who can beat players like he does in the Premier League. Some do, but they're not English," Pardew said.“

We should all feel able to ridicule any players choice of hairstyle regardless of race...Beckham's mohican, Seaman's ponytail, Zaha's creation, Lee's pineapple or Grealish's Peaky Blinders effort. Suggesting there's a need to "be careful" because of the players skin colour is as daft as it gets IMO.

Gotcha. Probably some pond life from Armley. Image I cannot get my head around what they could have meant at all.

you probably feel uncomfortable about a shitload of things then, i feel for you.

then again, if you can't see the difference between "his eyes freak me out" and "nigga eyes", then your eyes are probably... wait, i may be about to be racist!
