If we start with Lanzini again we're basically starting with 10 men.

agree we need someone who will work in the middle to counter their midfield battlers. the only one we have is snoddy as I wouldn't risk it with sanchez.

It is a very Alladyce comment (so I should defo wash my mouth out) but Snoddy does deliver a very good set piece.
Personally think he deserves a run out after being on bench for a few games
People also ignore that he has very good touch anf intelligence around the box. He was involved in a fair few goals last season against packed defences due to little flicks and very short range passes around the edge of the box

Taking our form into consideration, I think your right.Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 8:20 am It is a very Alladyce comment (so I should defo wash my mouth out) but Snoddy does deliver a very good set piece.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)
last season we finally got a result at everton last season , it was in making a fluid three in the middle ( rice/noble/obiang) work, with at least one of the three providing "extra extra" DM coverage and working as a unit with and without the ball. With anderson on the left, yarmo on the right and arnie dropping deep and also getting in behind, we clicked and played really well
Contrast this with last week where the formation was mostly 4 ----- 2-------------------2--------1-----1 with gaps all over , I think we should revert to a similar model
midfield three of noble, wilshire & rice--- ideally play wilshire ahead of the other two
Anderson and yarmo switching between who plays close to haller and who stretches them on the other wing
Lanzini to come on at 70 ins when we are 3 nil up and cruising..
cheers

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)
Okay, lads, I've just worked out the reason for our poor form is...ME.
Only games I've seen this far have been Norwich, Man U, Newport, Burnley, Brighton, Villa (3 Wins, 3 Draws 0 Losses).
I've missed Palace, Man City, Everton, Oxford and Watford (1 Win, 4 Losses).
I've not seen us lose this season.
Unfortunately, I've just realised that I'm getting my hair cut at 3pm this Saturday. We're DOOMED.

there is no way wilshere should start. he is too slow and does nothing. I think fornals is ahead of him at the moment

I would normally suggest wilshire comes on as a sub- a role which he's done very well ( manu etc)
his pace isnt going to be exposed against the blades

You see...this is the sort of information which should have been considered when we moved.steveyrockstar wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 9:23 am Okay, lads, I've just worked out the reason for our poor form is...ME.

Ridiculous, He was second to only De Brunye in chances created prior to his injury. 2 bad games (after coming back early from injury) and now hes like playing with '10 men'westham, eggyandchips wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 7:22 am If we start with Lanzini again we're basically starting with 10 men.
Make no mistake Lanzini is our most technically gifted player, and a game like tomorrow could be perfect for him against a team that will sit back and defend, as long as he has the support behind him.
2/3-0 West ham and a Norwich-like performance.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)
Pellegrini needs to be spot on with his tactics for this one.
I hope he doesn't fall into the trap of thinking they are a long ball team because they are from the Championship. They are far from it.
Noble/Rice will need to be on their game tomorrow and breaking everything up in the middle of the park. We also need someone who is consistent with picking the ball up and going forward. Lanzini/Anderson/Fornals/Wilshere haven't really staked a claim for this. Snodgrass may get a look in but I very much doubt he will start.
Lanzini will start. Cresswell will start. Yarmolenko will start.
Just make the simple things happen and everything else will fall into place.

I can't see anything more than a draw tomorrow. As a West Ham fan, I do get surprised when I see things like 'we should be beating teams like this', 'if we don't win...' or 'on paper...'
This is West Ham United we're talking about here! We know it doesn't work like that!

Although playing a settled team can be productive, I think we've actually gone a bit stale. Anderson has been well below par, BUT he's the key to everything positive. Even when he's poor he can change a game. Big conumdrum. Lanzini has been totally anonymous and needs a rest. Snod or Fornals to replace Lanzini. Fornals was poor last week, but the longer he played the more I felt he might produce Yarmo must start surely?

First line: "When the Argentine striker scored the winner for West Ham against Manchester United at Old Trafford on the last day of the 2006-07 Premier League season, it saved the Hammers and sent Sheffield United down".Joyeux Marteau wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 3:25 pm Very nice piece on the BBC website by a Mr UTJ (I think)

We only needed a draw, they get it wrong every time.
