It genuinely feels like, people nowadays, just want to sign a player for sake of signing someone, regardless of whether the player is good enough, and how they might fit into the club, as long as we sign SOMEONE, then it's all good.

No where is this more prevalent than when you type 'West Ham' into Twitter search and read the dross on there, I'm sure other clubs 'fans' are the same.

It's all a product of the social media age we live in, where news, updates and fake stories are rife.

We now have an opportunity to plug a few holes in some key areas. For me our priority should be cover for RB and an athletic CM. Hasn't got to be millions of spondoolicks, just the right players. If we get this wrong after the 632nd transfer window we deserve to drop.

We do need players this week.
However, that doesn't mean clubs will want to sell us players this week, or that players/ agents will want to sign a deal this week. There is no need for them to rush into anything

I don't think we should sign Barbosa outright before a loan deal.

Someone else said this yesterday and I fully concur. Despite his goalscoring feats in South America, he's a big gamble for a European club for any significant sum of money.

He's talented and certainly worth pursuing, but failures at two major European clubs (where South Americans have tended to excel), as well as a very short list of players who successfully carried their form over into the Prem from the Brazilian league, leads me to think caution is the correct approach.

Yeah, I commented on this a few weeks back. The intonation is weirdly repetitive. I got wrapped up in not listening to what he was saying but thinking, why can't he hear that himself? Content is ok but it's definitely a difficult listen on that front. Someone needs to get him to slow/calm down a bit.

Hmm.. it's not like we're at the stage where we don't particularly need anyone though. Chances are somebody coming in may improve us at at least give more depth.

I note the loan move for Fernandez has 'stalled', yet no explanation why. I can put one forward, the club are making the right noises, but have no real intention in signing anybody and Sullivan will make sure we don't. Keeping investments low in the build up to sale in 3 year's time. We only have another 3 years of these shenanigans folks. The end is in sight

The Guardian reported last night that Fernandes is anticipating better options than us, with Man Utd and Lyon both interested. Thus why talks have slowed.

Him and Allen are the sort of players we should have been in for 5 years ago, not now!

I guess they're looking at players with PL experience, who can hit the ground running, and give our squad some added depth in the short-term, given our current predicament. I don't think it's necessarily a terrible strategy.

I'm not sure how much pulling power we have with bigger, long-term, more desirable targets given our current mess (nor how much the Dildos are willing to spend for that matter).
