Our last remaining scout – who is actually just a Venn diagram consisting of one circle labelled "Central Midfielder" and a second saying "Available for loan prior to puchasing" – finally came up trumps.

Knew ol' Venny had it in him.

Did alright pace-wise against Barca, Dortmunt and Inter in the Champions League. Plus the guy has iron lungs and his positioning is second to none. Far from a Rice's clone.

It’s a Christmas miracle.
Looks like a good signing. Which is why he will probably injure his knee after being struck by some falling suitcases at the airport.

In some ways that would actually be quite sensible. However it highlights one of the many challenges of buying any half decent players (no idea if he is) when you are in the S***. The club needs to strengthen but doesn't want to commit to large transfer fees with a risk of relegation. Just as significantly, no half decent or ambitious player will want to commit to a club that may go down. So you end up with cheap players or crap one.

Yet another consequence of poor management and lack of long term strategy.

I’m sure the clause will be more complex than just stay up I.e. a number of mins played, but otherwise we’d have to sign him and then sell him!
