Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Wolves have signed their 9th Portuguese player. Is that a record for most players from a single overseas country? Arsenal and Newcastle must be close with French players at one point.

Thats the problem only if you are a one trick pony and your only one trick is asking agents whose available.Ludeksgloves wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 11:51 am . Agents like to drag out the deals as long as possible
Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Just about every manager every year says how difficult the January market is yet for fans it easy “get the deal done on 1 January, where is the problem”.
There are a limited number of players clubs are willing to sell who a Premier club would want to buy (in essence a sellers market), those players are likely targeted by a number of clubs the selling club and the players agent will hold on for the best deal they can get and competition creates this - look how suddenly the Eriksen and Fernandes deals were completed the moment the name Barcelona was mentioned when prior to that it was all about haggling over price.
I suspect our midfield buy was actually about 3rd choice on the list, first the effort goes into Gedson (time some say wasted but perhaps not if he came), then Berge (the offer to Genk by Sheffield Utd is likely to be better than ours as they are paying money now and the player himself knows he will get Premier next year), more time to get this confirmed until we move onto target 3. It is likely as much a loan to buy as the player might not want to stay if we go down (Demba Ba) and this leaves his options open.
Same with the striker - Piatek was the likely number 1 target for a host of clubs, now a deal has been finally agreed expect to see several number 2/3 targets for teams sign.
History shows the majority of deals happen late despite every year teams needs being as great as ours is this year. It is simply how the market operates and I suspect the desire to change this is likely to be as successful as the efforts of King Canute.

Our mate Jim White is saying he’s been told players in China are asking their agents to find them a club. Race against the clock now.
Rondon would be handy.

Christ. The mention of Rondon's name really brings home how much has gone on since the summer. Feels like seven years ago he was being discussed, not seven months ago.

Can’t be. That’s not what happens in Football Manager. U must be making it up.Ludeksgloves wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 11:51 am Not defending Sully & co here, but signing all our players in the first week of Jan is almost impossible. Agents like to drag out the deals as long as possible to sound out as many suitors as possible to ensure the best deal for their client (and themselves obviously).
It was always going to be a busy last few days.

Yeah, let's pick up some Chinese based players. Coronavirus can completely kill the club off!Westbourne Bill wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 12:49 pm Our mate Jim White is saying he’s been told players in China are asking their agents to find them a club. Race against the clock now.

C & H saying they 'understand that no signing is currently imminent and in all likelihood no further incoming signings will be completed in time.'
Do go to sleep,,,,and last person please turn out the lights

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
C&H reporting that we should expect no further incomings as a senior figure has indicated that they are finding it hard to get anything done in time now. What a surprise.
