To be fair, if Bowen has a half decent agent, he will know that he has us by the balls regarding wage demands, as we need him far more than he needs us...if the agent is difficult and Sully I'm sure will be, then if the agent starts taking the p*ss, things could fade and die...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Assuming Bowen comes in...... this was a surprisingly good January window. Yes things dragged out, but that's how January tends to work. We badly needed a CM to replace Noble who could run a ton, make basic passes, be strong in defense.... and we actually got one.
We needed an option to bring real pace to the frontline to partner with Haller so he won't be isolated especially given Antonio's injury issues... and it looks like we actually went out and got a player that fits.
I'm not sure who is handling the identification of and decisions on targets, but whether Moyes or Sullivan, this has been the first window in a long time where it felt like they correctly identified the biggest needs, found players who fit those needs, brought them in, and didn't then sell players to create a new need.

I think it sometimes gets a bit dramatic on here. All we have to go on is little snippets of information from different media outlets and people are saying its over. This deal will happen I believe, sometimes things take time to do.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
I kept on reading for hour upon endless hour he was on his way to London for a medical and wondered why it was taking him so long to travel down from Hull, a journey that normally takes around 3 1/2 to 4 hours by road, or whether Gold had provided his copter. Now we know what the hold up is. This one's going tits up

If Bowen really does want the same £60K a week that we pay Sanchez and we are stalling then the poison dwarf needs shooting if this falls through.

Because it’s the same old story. What other premier league club has moves for championship players stall over wages?

Cor , this forum's web servers is really struggling isn't it ? The response time takes ages (must be a memory capacity issue).
Why would Bowen sign a 3-4 yr contract with us if there is a good chance we will get relegated and his salary drops by 50% ? So wouldn't any potentially new player who is currently getting 30k pw ask for 60k pw in case of that eventuality (otherwise he risks his wage getting smaller than his current salary)?

Granted this is my own bias built up over many a GSB transfer window but I'd be inclined to think that Moyes is at least having a final say on the type of player. As for creating a new need I think, even Sully, has realised the need is too great to be adding to it.Cellar-door wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 3:20 pm I'm not sure who is handling the identification of and decisions on targets, but whether Moyes or Sullivan, this has been the first window in a long time where it felt like they correctly identified the biggest needs, found players who fit those needs, brought them in, and didn't then sell players to create a new need.

Ki Sung-yeung has been released by Newcastle. Don't think he's be a starter for us, but think he could add some good depth in the middle of the park. Tidy passer, quite neat in the middle of the pitch. Not the fastest, for sure, but if we needed to add another player there he'd be a good option.

Quite right. This place is the equivalent of an Eastern european bathhouse.

I have to say that having read the posts on the past few pages about this Bowen bloke, I have laughed out loud several times (and I'm a miserable git normally). My wife has asked me if I am going mad several times too.
Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
We have 0 facts of what’s happening at the moment. People are throwing figures about written by sources who have been wrong all during the transfer window. I’d rather wait and see what happens than throw my toys out after every fake news rumourBillydinho wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 3:28 pm Because it’s the same old story. Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
That is a pretty stupid statement to make my friend.
How much do you think Hull are paying him?
He will not be expecting 60k a week, there would be incentive bonuses to bring it to this figure but I severely doubt West Ham or any other club would offer him 60k flat.

James Burford PL reporter has tweeted...
@WestHam have just told me the deal with Jarrod Bowen HAS NOT stalled. They're currently negotiating over personal terms. The club is comfortable they'll be able to get the deal done before the window closes. #JarrodBowen
