No surprise that the midtable clubs are doing bugger all.

The relegation candidates - Watford, Norwich, Villa and Brighton - have all done some business.

As things stand, Spurs won't even get Europa League, let alone CL. That will create a big financial hole - not only on telly money, but fewer games, lower gate revenue, less corporate etc. It's a de facto relegation, of sorts.

I will accept that both Spurs and Liverpool enjoyed a combination of sizeable investment (unlikely with our owners) and a virtual cast iron commitment not to buy players over a certain age. Arsenal used to do something similar, and with contract renewals.

We could do with employing a similar strategy.
You can ignore the opinions of most of the people who have worked with him all you like, but it says something when people of the caliber of Kenny Dalglish, Martin Jol and Arsène Wenger have no time for somebody.

Dont shoot the messenger!

Mate who is a season ticket holder for Brighton has been speaking with Shane Duffy's barber at the Brighton Game today. Apparently close to a deal with him.

He had a decent season last year but my understanding is he's been out of favour as a starter due to Potter wanting to play some football.

A marginal improvement on Balbuena perhaps but hardly seems a necessary purchase.

In itself, it seems improbable - Duffy has years on his deal and it's probably not #1 priority - but I wouldn't be greatly surprised to see a cull of Husillos' signings.

Balbuena is probably sellable at a decent profit into somewhere like Spain. Maybe £10m or so.

Moyes' track record at Everton was a predominantly British/Irish team and to give him his due, he tended to sign solid centre backs.

Duffy is under contract until 2023 but would be a good signing - £20m or so at a guess?

Can head the ball all day long and is a leader.

Balbuena has been linked to AC Milan so wouldn’t be surprised if we let him go.

Duffy was virtually ever present under the previous manager at Brighton, and it looks like Moyes gave him his debut at Everton when he was 19/20.

We need three players with experience who can fit in and keep us up. We can't keep drawing so will possibly need a win or two against top six and then hold a lead until final whistle...

We need five new players to give us any chance of staying up this season; LB, RB, 2 x CM & ST.

Won’t happen under these owners and certainly won’t happen in January.

Moyes was saying in his press conference that he does not want other teams cast offs. But that is what you generally get in the January transfer window so it is not looking that hopeful on signings except maybe Joe Allen at the end of the window.
