Gut wrenching even seeing links to allen.
Ageing, slow, no physicality
Literally the complete opposite of what we need.
Imagine seeing a team of snodgrass and nobles and thinking hang on we actually need less pace in the team.

The return of Randolph doesn't entirely fill me with much confidence. He was prone to a few howlers during his time here before. His he really that much of a step up from Roberto and Martin?

Our midfield needs an overhaul.

If it's Allen plus one more (Berge, Fernandes, N'Zonzi) with the departure of Sanchez, then I'm 100% behind it.

If it's just Joe Allen...I'm less enthused.

He was as good as Adrian’s worst spell. He was never as good as his best, nor his consistent performances. He didn’t settle or improve for a run in the team, which is a real sign of a problem. I can forgive a goalie not looking their best in the odd appearance or sub role, but when you get given backing and don’t improve, you aren’t for picking.

It’s not a huge drama, it’s just another sign of the nonsense of this football club. Taken on its own, it’s a reasonably fine signing. As part of a group of decisions, it’s lacking

We've gone from Gedson Fernandes to Joe Allen.

Be honest, who in their heart of hearts really didn't expect this?

I’m with you. If it’s Joe Allen and AN Other in place of Sanchez and Wilshere, that’s a good idea. If it’s just Joe, it’s underwhelming.

Sure, I’d take him as part of a squad option. But pretty much every central midfielder who isn’t Declan Rice is someone you’d want “in case” or “if we need another body in the middle.” Joe Allen would fit those.

£10m for Randolph and Allen so we can afford proper quality additions we need too, that’s ok. Sometimes we are a little too full of ourselves for our own good - we’ve been beaten twice by a Palace team full of players we’d turn our noses up at (a few of them we did, one of them scoring).

As ever, it’s about balance. I can’t remember us having it.

Think Allen would be a decent signing personally. Seen a lot of him during his time at Swansea, not afraid to put a few challenges in and works tirelessly in midfield. Also seem to remember he didn't do too badly at Liverpool.

If we are spending £11m on Randolph and Allen I doubt we'll be signing Berge. Fernandes with the loan deal possibly, but even then there's reports of Moyes having doubts.

Roberto and Sanchez set the bar extremely low so Randolph and Allen being an improvement on them doesn't say much. We've gone from poor freebie squad fillers to cheap and average ones...

He last played for Swansea in 2012. For a measure of just how long ago that is to use as a yardstick of a player's form, Joe Hart was still starting for Manchester City 3 years after that.

Ex saying Randolph will be done today or tomorrow. Fredericks out for 4-7 weeks - loan replacement most likely.

Same could be said about our £45 million Star Player who hardly pulled up trees while we slid down the table under Pellegrini. One player cannot be expected to carry the rest of the team. Think Allen could be a great signing for Moyes. All our fans ask for is a bit of effort and they would get it in spades from Allen.

No we haven't. The Allen links were around well before the Fernandes ones.

They're just stories. Nothing has happened yet.

Admittedly I'd be a bit underwhelmed if we signed Allen instead of that Fernandes fella that I've never seen play and hadn't heard of until a few days ago... but even so, I still think he'd make a useful squad player and would give us more options. It also gives us less reason to put Sanchez on the pitch.

To be fair, if we got relegated and then spent two seasons floundering in the lower half of the championship, you’d (or we collectively) probably write off Haller.

And we have always wanted more than just effort. Being s*** is always a problem, regardless of whether they huff and puff
