Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Newcastle United: Match thread (2/11)
Pellegrini is somehow managing to turn all his signings into dross who are actually scared to shoot or take on a player. Anderson is a shadow of last season. Haller has nil service and looks fed up. And Ajeti has played Champions League, but looks like he's never scored a goal. His sole contribution was to get in a decent position to score about 10 yards out, but instead of shooting he turned round and passed backwards! Zab is shot at this level, so how does he start ahead of Fredericks?!

- Taking Yarmolenko at half time
- Starting Zabaleta against that winger
- Not keeping hold of Adrian, and not replacing him with someone competent
It just boggles the mind.

Nothing to do with Arnie.
It's about lack of investment in keys areas, and a manager who has no plan b by the looks of things.

If Fred and Ogbonna start that game, there's no way we look that bad - Fred's pace covers what Zabaleta can't, and Ogbonna is miles better in the air than Balbuena. Diop has also been shoved onto the wrong side.

My wife still thinks we lost 3-0 as I never cheered.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 5:03 pm first time in I don't know how long I never even acknowledged our goals.
yet another game where we have a lion's share of possession and do naff all with it.
brought it up in one other thread couple of days or so back - possession with a purpose.
17 shots and only 6 on target. 12 and NINE for them.
Pellers lost the plot the day we lost to Oxford. that and the inability to get the side organised depending on who we play and the complete wrong tactics in way too many games.

All of a sudden this year is now about survival and nothing else.
No pace up top... none in midfield... none in defence.
Poor reserve keeper.
Seems Arnie was more key for us than i appreciated.

Did anyone clock who was beaten in the air for their first two goals?bubbles1966 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 5:11 pm If Fred and Ogbonna start that game, there's no way we look that bad - Fred's pace covers what Zabaleta can't, and Ogbonna is miles better in the air than Balbuena. brought up a little earlier, why oh why is Zaba the last man at our corner kicks ?
TWICE we nearly came undone - it could have been 5 easily. St. Maxime should have scored, he should have shot instead of passing to Almiron and then Shelvey hit the bar.
there are HUGE problems with this team - personnel or tactics or whatever it might be. it happens too regularly and did last season too.
not sure Pellers has a clue how to solve it, he hasn't shown the ability to do it so far I am afraid.

What do you say to that?
I thought Cresswell looked keen for an hour. I’m struggling to think of anything else positive.
A half positive is I think that was a woeful starting eleven so in theory we can start games better if we pick a better team. It’s worrying thought that our manager thought that was the best team to win this game.
I hope we’re higher than 15th on New Year’s Day. I’m not sure we will be.

Would any other manager in the league start Zabaleta at all, let alone against someone with the pace of Saint-Maxamim.

Haller is a massive part of the problem.
What is he offering exactly?
There were plenty of good balls into the box second half, and Haller was nowhere near them.
You mentioned Ajeti in your post for not shooting when through - at least he got into the right position and made the right run to get through on goal. What did Haller do exactly all game?
Very disappointing for the fee we've paid.

Roberto is killing us in goal. We have plenty of problems out on pitch as well but this guy is not giving us a hope of winning games. Hard to see us winning at all whilst Fabianski is out.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Newcastle United: Match thread (2/11)
On another forum I used to read they did a similar thing with the twitter updates during game days. The site was then amazingly slow and would not load, just as this one is.
They stopped the twitter updates and the site went back to working perfectly normal and fast.
Just saying, maybe it is them, maybe it's not. But perhaps it would be worth stopping them next match-day and seeing if it makes a difference.

No games left that we can seriously look at and think we can get a draw let alone a win. What a shambles of a situation.

Haller has lost his confidence. He has stopped making runs as we do not seem to be putting crosses in. Endless circle. We don't cross he stops making runs. He stops running so we don't cross.
Our midfield three are slow and lethargic. Play sideways, backwards. It is never quick or defence splitting passes. Yes keep the ball but sometimes try to make something happen. Those three make the back line nervous.
Confidence is shot. Something wrong internally at the club?
