Re: Who Next? The odds
No offence taken pal
I think its time for a bit of left field thinking. None of the "obtainable managers' fill me with any confidence. I think its time for a hungry young manager. Who knows what the likes of Johnson, Neill can do with a decent side and budget (comparable to what they have had to work on).
Whenever ive listened to Johnson he strikes me as a bright fella. The financial constraints he works under and consistantly gets Bristol there or there abouts i think speaks volumes

We do have to look left field, look elsewhere than existing Premiership managers like Howe and Dyche and former ones like Moyes.
I present Brentford manager Thomas Frank, 18 years in Youth coaching before moving into management and doing a fantastic job with Brentford.

Re: Who Next? The odds
Someone who will try 3 at the back with wing-backs.
Personal preference is Moyes but Kovac, Poch and Emery have played this system in the past.
Our Full-Backs are no where near good enough to play in a Flat Back 4, but Fredericks and Arthur can excel @ wing-back!
Someone who will work the players to SAS levels of fitness and commitment to the cause.
Someone who will result in me witnessesing Haller break into a *sprint* for the first time ever.

Re: Who Next? The odds
My shortlist:
Wilder
Howe
Steven Gerrard
John Terry (with an experienced number 2)
Wagner
(I would take poch in a heartbeat but beyond us me thinks)
We are going to get Moyes aren’t we.

It will be Moyes. You can't take a risk now and go for the sort of young, intelligent coach we need. So we will waste another three year cycle of getting someone into rescue us, get bored, hire...?

With Moyes last time we lost to a league 1 side in the cup with no shot on target. We scraped past Shrewsbury. We regularly got turned over by sides in and around us.
It's a myth he did a good job last time, an utter myth. What is the actual point in supporting West Ham if you want Moyes?

Re: Who Next? The odds
Moyes looks a good option on a six month deal. Can hit the ground running and he knows what a shambles of a club we are. No good long-term manager is going to want to take us on where we are now.
Cannot believe it has come to this. Or rather....I can.
No matter who the manager is, who is in the playing squad, the West Ham way wins out! Chaos...

What's the logic?
6 months? i suppose he makes a million or so - but the owners look like even bigger idiots than usual...

Thomas Frank would be mad to join West Ham.thejackhammer wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 11:20 am We do have to look left field, look elsewhere than existing Premiership managers like Howe and Dyche and former ones like Moyes.

Brentford are everything West Ham are not... A well run community club who care about their fans and have a clear plan and ethos of how the club should be run.
They have a transfer policy and scouting system we could only dream of and are improving year on year.
Lee Johnson mentioned above a definite no from me... Really dont rate Bristol City.

Re: Who Next? The odds
Why not Enzo Maresca???
I really do not understand the Moyes option.
Would you come back to your ex, even all the love-hate issues and only due to the kids or some mutual obligations??
I personally do not.
But thats the way it is and somehow a real statement of a mediocre club board who do not want to lose BUT also to WIN nothing... (zero ambition or gamble to the future)
The fear to get relegated is at any point better or deserves more attention than the fear to be mediocre, have midtable signs and only plays for nothing or the joy of it..
Peace!

Moyes’ win rare was 29% - hardly inspiring!hammers92 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 9:43 pm With Moyes last time we lost to a league 1 side in the cup with no shot on target. We scraped past Shrewsbury. We regularly got turned over by sides in and around us.

Re: Who Next? The odds
If moyes comes back is sully not admitting he was wrong to not give him a contract 18 months ago? For once i was really hoping sullys ego might do us a favour
Id prefer allardyce back long before moyes, not that i want either. Not convinced by howe or emery. Pellegrini was our shot at getting a top manager in and we blew it. Whoever comes in is more than likely going to be some poor tasting medicine

Re: Who Next? The odds
Can’t wait for the press release where Moyes is “going back to basics”, and “make us hard to beat”.
We’ve gone absolutely nowhere in 18 months.
