F A Cup 3rd Round draw

Post by Puff Daddy » Sun Dec 01, 2019 9:45 am

It's nearly that time again, the draw to take place tomorrow, so who d'ya want ? Cue the perennial calls for Millwall, Blunts, Spuds, even Liverpool away  I swear some of you are so used to us not winning it you have given up us ever winning it again, well you might be right, if we win it again in my lifetime, I shall die happy. We will get a League 1 team away, naturally, and I am expecting Exeter away and true to tradition, we will lose, of course

I just want a home game that will enable me to get 4 tickets close together. It would be good to get the band back together before my boy flies home again.
So somebody from the lower divisions please.

I don't care who it is, home or away. I just want us to give it a go for a change. I'm lucky (and old) enough to have seen us lift the trophy 3 times.
I want to see younger Hammers have that same feeling of elation and triumph.

Manchester city Away..

Might as well get all the hopes and dreams out of the way from the start.

Not a League One team away from home.

Someone reasonably decent at home so we have to play a strong team.

This is precisely what I am not understanding. This competition comes round just once a year and I don't think there is so much as one member of this forum who has not at some time or other, not moaned and complained that we do not take this seriously and would like to see us make a run at it. Yet for selfish reasons, they would prefer to see us drawn against a local to team to them to prevent them travelling any distance to watch us, even though this will in all likelihood see their team knocked out. In your case, Portsmouth, which is about an hour's journey on the train to London Waterloo and about an hour and a half to The London Stadium itself and even then, this is a pretty decent League 1 team, certainly one of the better ones. Are you sure, in your selection and would you not prefer we actually won this instead?

An average championship team at home.

Slight adverse reaction Puff  At some stage you might have to play a team from the football league and none if them are certainties as we well know to our embarrassment .

Yup; better that than the inevitable spineless capitulation to some lower-league team in Round 4 or 5 when we start thinking it might be our year......

That wouldn't piss me off, away would though. Even though they've never won it, are you aware of their FA Cup pedigree ?

Yes why?

I don't care about their FA Cup history I just want to see us play them at the London Stadium as A) They are our Rivals, B) It would be funny to see how it would pan out at the Soulless bowl and C) I'm sure it would be one of the televised games

Who is it you would like btw Puff. Every FA Cup draw you say the same thing but I don't recall ever reading what teams you would prefer us to get.

Anyway it does not really matter who we get because we all know our club wont take it seriously and will want to get knocked out quickly to concentrate on yet another relegation battle.

You know, next level and all that.
