Picture quality wasn't a patch on Sky's 4K coverage, slightly worse than their 1080p I'd say. Obviously better than naughty streams.

My thoughts

Stream was fine though frame rate wasn't always as good.as it should have been - switched to the Merseyside derby and the frame rate is impeccable which tells me something.

That was streamed in 4k, ours wasn't.

I turned the commentary off after she mentioned how even Chelsea fans would have had tears in their eye over the embrace between the Martins.

Pity the football was so bad, I very nearly guffawed at that

Yep, I did laugh at that one.

My picture was ok for the vast majority, a few times the ball got blurred when it went long. Was a decent watch overall. they mentioned they are doing this again on Boxing day I think??

I didn't turn on the Mickeys game, was their 4k as good as Skys?

Had better pictures on my knock off Nigel and the commentary was absolute terrible but think the platform is a great idea and i would be in favour of if just worry would it affect attendances on a match day

****ing armchair c****.

At the stadium the players are just vague blurs and you can barely see the ball when it's up the other end of the pitch.

If you were hardcore fans you'd have your analogue TV's outside in the garden and be watching a 240p picture through the kitchen window.

Consumers.

Yep. Got better in the 2nd half and was watchable but not a patch on Sky or BT quality.

The West Ham game wasn't streamed in 4K though, the Liverpool one was, and the Man City game on Tuesday as well, personally I thought the picture quality was better than Sky's UHD, it seemed much crisper.

Interesting. I would have thought that would create more lag.

There is a "crowdnoise" option if you didn't want it silent but couldn't stand the commentary

Yeah, that's what I did. Both of the streams seemed a bit better last night, assuming that's due to less traffic overall.

Still so annoying being a minute or so behind though, especially if perusing Twitter or something like that before a goal goes in.

That happens whichever provider I watch. I have goal alerts set up on my phone and it's quite common to get an alert before the game on TV has caught up. I usually remember to mute the alerts

My family are huge bunch of thieves, sorry, "consumers" (doths cap to FJtG) of digital content. . . Mrs Tross has even gotten our washing machine involved in stealing bandwidth.

As such, I fork out for what is an extremely good broadband connection.

I'm also a Prime customer, and have been for a number of years.

For me, the quality of the content I've received has been excellent, and the value has been outstanding, highlighting the poor broadcast quality and value of basic Sky Sports and BT Sport offerings.

How long that level of quality and in particular the great value will last will be an interesting one to watch.

the 'stadium' atmosphere option seemed a good idea but wasn't even stereo sound, it was mono. there I was primed to get the full stadium experience at home with my full dolby atmos set up and instead only sound from the center speaker.

Picture was fine, commentary was dull and cliche. the less said about the performance the better.

Yes I was disappointed with the stadium sound too, I thought it would have been in basic surround sound at least

it is awesome.

40+ free games in december. and this includes next day shipping and a bunch of movies. what's not to love.

yes, the company itself and the tax thing is a problem, but with fb/google/apple/etc all doing the same, the government should be doing more to prevent this since you can't expect companies themselves to minimize profits.

the picture wasn't smooth until i lowered the quality, but you get what you pay for i guess.

the death of football as we know it? hardly. for me, live football officially died on 10 may 2016. it will never be the same. what technology has done is give us options. i was able to attend a football match on wednesday and catch up on games i missed when i got home.

The stadium sound can clearly be improved but on the basis that it’s actually an option with amazon and not with sky means I prefer the new provider personally.

Whether a new provider would ultimately tend to the same blatant top six bias is not clear - but I’d be happy for football to take it’s chances away from sky.
