The ex-rev's Christmas message 2019

Post by Up the Junction » Tue Dec 24, 2019 1:45 pm

As traditional now as the Queen's annual address, Christmas carols and and leftover turkey, Elwin Cockett - the current Archdeacon of West Ham and former Reverend of West Ham United FC - shares his annual Christmas message with the readers of Knees up Mother Brown...

And at this juncture, with tools downed for the festive period, it only remains for me to wish a very merry and peaceful Christmas to all the members and readers of Knees up Mother Brown and to thank you for your patronage during the past 12 months.

See you all again on Boxing Day.
Love, UtJ

Elwin, your words at Xmas are always the highlight of Kumb. May your words inspire us to be less selfless, more forgiving and more tolerant of others. For those of us who have sought your comfort in the past I just want to say thank you and wish you and your family a very merry & peaceful Xmas.

I always enjoy Elwin's Christmas message. This year's message hits the spot as usual and reminds us of the bigger picture.
Happy Christmas to all of you

A lovely message as usual Elwin. We really appreciate your words, and yes we should always be thinking about and helping those less fortunate.

Supporting Isla is the "West Ham way" and Jon's foodbanks is something we can all get behind.

God bless you
Merry Christmas :scarfer:

Cheers Elwin.

I will raise a glass to Father Tom as well.

I’m not a religious man but find comfort in the belief that inner peace is found in compassion.

Happy Xmas to everyone on here.

A poignant and beautiful message as ever from the Rev.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas, and a happy and peaceful new year, and I raise a glass to UTJ and all the moderating team for making this place the very best site on the Internet. Your continued hard work and dedication deserves recognition, and I'm proud to be a small part of this great website.

I have just read His Eminency the Pope's Christmas message too and felt very reassured by his comment, that God loves us all, even the very worst of us. I thought that was good to know. Merry Christmas everybody

Merry Christmas and God bless to all you chaps on here and to Elwin the ex-Rev.

Sounds simple but the best Christmas things to me are always attending the midnight mass service, a big Christmas meal with all the relatives and then (hopefully) a hammers win on Boxing Day.
