It'd got to the point of no return for Pellers. Now I await his replacement with baited breath...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini sacked
Thought our Owners had had a proper change of heart when they appointed Manuel Pellegrini and coupled with the transfer budget they gave him during his first season in charge I really thought they were building for the future - I did say that we'd know their true intentions by the amount they gave him in his second season in charge which turned out to be less than half of what they gave him previously .
These Owners aren't about building for the future , it's season by season with them . Their sole plan is survival , staying in the Premier League at ALL cost - which means no distractions such as cup competitions or getting close enough for an European place - mid-table is their goal .
Why on earth they employed Manuel Pellegrini when they had no plans to back him in the transfer market is beyond me , they should have stuck with David Moyes or Sam Allardyce .
Anyway , The King Is Dead , Long Live The King an' all that .

Re: Manuel Pellegrini sacked
People will blame Pellegrini but the real problems in this club lies with Sullivan. Is it right for the chairman of the club to have connections to criminals? He's not getting my money.
He's failed to make the changes which the stadium needs, even though most people know its too far from the pitch, and he refuses to put his hand in his pocket for players. To him it's just a business. I no longer go anymore because I hate the view from the stadium and I'm sick to death of watching second rate players struggling along. Only Mark Noble has my respect for sticking it out. I've got better things to spend my 50 quid on then to listen to a load of braggarts moaning.

I thought that but don’t really believe it. Just seen him driving out of M&S car park in Loughton - looked relaxed and smiley - I guess who wouldn’t be with £10+ million in their back pocket.
IF it is Moyes (I don’t want him) then they need to announce ASAP to give him a couple of days with the squad before our next game.

What ever happens next, am pretty sure that Sullivan is not going to put his hands in his own pockets.il_martello_di_genovesi wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 11:45 am Not something to celebrate is it? Yes, Sullivan has had to put his hand in his pocket and that all sounds like fun and games, but all that does is show what a state we are in.
The best we can hope for is him lending the club money at high interest rates again.

If it's Moyes they should start processing all the season ticket refundsBMLGirl wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 1:52 pm I thought that but don’t really believe it. You do know that Sullivan himself is a convicted criminal?
The connections thing is pretty irrelevant in those circumstances I would have thought.

How unfortunate for you. I'm sure like the rest of us, you'd hoped you'd never see him again, let alone the morning after the night before

I just don't see this appointment as being what the club needed and seems like an appointment by Sullivan just to shut the fans up for a bit. I really hope I'm proved wrong, but this seems a vanity purchase rather than part of a well considered strategic direction.
I will be very surprised if he sees out the three years of his contract. I fully expect the attempts to play Barcelona style on Barnsley money will end in tears.
I'm not glass half full on this one. More glass half empty, urinated in by a tramp, smashed and stabbed in the eye ball.
I hate to say I told you so...

He probably just nipped in to quickly buy himself a nice Chilean Claret to celebrate not having to work for those ****ers again.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini sacked
There is something sad about this, notwithstanding that I agree with the decision taken. Pelly’s time was up and the deteriorating results spoke for themselves. Equally, the spirit in the team didn’t look right on Stephen’s Day, and this needs to be addressed.
My sadness is that 18 months ago it really looked as though we had benefitted from Moyes to the extent that he steered the ship to safety and he got off st the appropriate time. His replacement on paper was world class and we spent real money on well scouted players. The results were ultimately okay, and the performances were generally entertaining. Then we had the summer. The body dump in the squad has ultimately proved to be a disaster. We sold too many players who were not replaced or we relied on existing players like a fully fit Jack Wilshere to carry the baton. In the end we have been left with a midfield of Rice, Noble and Snodgrass. We sold Arnie, Perez and Chich this summer and let Carroll go for nothing. In return we purchased two strikers, one who has just not found his feet. But that’s not the only issue, our centre back pairing (so settled last year) has been anything but settled this time. The left back slot has changed hands a couple of times, we have ended up fairly reliant on players like Zabaleta and Roberto. Also, the bulk of our second string was hammered by Oxford.
Mistakes have been made, but this year we needed to build on last term. Instead we made minimal net investment, failed to maintain the core integrity of the squad, signed inferior players to what were leaving and generally expected Pelly to “make do”.

Kudos to you for seeing it pan out that way.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini sacked
Any truth to the rumours that he was sacked by Karen Brady then escorted at of the stadium by security and was not even allowed to say bye to the players?
Somewhat similar to Grant if true.

I am pretty sure MP had no intention of finishing this season with us as early as April (expect when Sullivan told him he was getting minimal funds and slashing the wages). He let a good number of his team go that had been with him for a multiple years, my guess so they didn’t get screwed over.
