The thing that's been largely obscured in the backlash, and then the backlash to the backlash, is that he was a particularly gash referee. Enough to cut through the general fog of inconspicuousness that should surround officials – I couldn't really tell you what I think of, say, Martin Atkinson.

So good for him if he's back in the game in some form, but hopefully he never reaches anywhere near the upper levels again.
