FAC3: Gillingham 0-2 West Ham Utd (05/01/20)

Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread
NO RESTING PLAYERS FOR THIS PLEASE....its the FA CUP....strongest possible team, so only rest players with concerning knocks or strains, and lets ensure 2 wins out of 2....and buck this cup losing to rubbish teams trend.....Gillingham have a good togetherness and on the day will certainly work their socks off WE MUST MATCH THAT at the very minimum.

fabianski
zabaleta diop reid masuaka
Holland rice Coventry anderson
haller ajeti
subs anang fredericks cresswell Balbuena yarmolenko noble snodgrass
would be good to give rice a rest before Sheffield but that would mean sanchez coming in and I don't want him playing as he is not up to the opposition level !

Nope. Not in a competitive fixture anyway.
Pretty extraordinary to have a single injury so severe you miss an entire managerial reign.

Indeed, so the last manager he would have played under, would've been Moyes?

I’d forgotten the context but Bubbles’s post the other day reminded me - he shouldn’t have been playing the game he got the injury in, and everyone knew it. Rushed back ahead of schedule due to injuries elsewhere, the same way Antonio usually is before a relapse. I wonder if he blames Moyes even a little bit for putting him in that position.

We dare not lose this. Living a 5 minute walk away and having mates who are Gillingham STH's it's going to be unbearable if we lose.

You could always move, I know a fella who will give you a good deal on removals.

That FA Cup error did Martin's reputation a lot of damage. Otherwise, I'm told by my Millwall-supporting mate, he was a very good keeper in the fifteen games he played for them. Clearly he was brought to West Ham with the expectation that we would never play him, though. Isn't he injured anyway?Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 9:38 am Fabianski has to play if fit
Of all the back up players we have a mistake is most likely to come from the two reserve keepers and an fA Cup tie can be decided by one mistake
David Martin did not have a good experience in his last FA Cup match!

Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread
I'd go for just 3 changes:
----------------------------Fabianski---------------------------
-Fredericks--------Reid-------------Ogbonna--------Cresswell-
-------------Diop------------Rice-----------Noble------------------
-Anderson-----------------Haller------------------------Lanzini-
Subs: Martin, Johnson, Balbuena, Masuaku, Snodgrass, Fornals, Ajeti.
Lanzini and Fabianski to play to improve their match fitness after returning from injuries. Reid to play to improve his fitness. Plus if we want to try and sell him we need to prove he is fit enough to play. Snodgrass to have a breather. And I think this would be the perfect game to experiment playing Diop in midfield.

Not sure we need effectively 3 defensive mids, I’d go for a little more creativity in the middle.

Re: Gillingham v West Ham United: FAC3 Match Thread
There are fitness doubts on 5 players and though Moyes has said he will give the FA Cup a go that won't be at the expense of risking key players for what is a really tricky 8 games.
Don't expect a full first team, Holland is going on loan but may start.
If Moyes has the layers applying themselves as they did last weekend we will have enough to beat Gills even with likes of Holland, Ajeti and Reid or Diop starting.
