Stuart Pearce: the board blocked my return (Talksport)

Post by Col Hammer » Mon Jan 06, 2020 8:53 am

Apologies if mentioned elsewhere but Stuart Pearce confirmed on Talksport earlier he won't be returning,

Apparently the board felt he had been too critical about them in the past so blocked Moyes request for Pearce to join his team. Fair play to Stuart though as praised the board for going back to get Moyes, and how great job Moyes did last time round

Yes mate he did, was quite shocked to hear it, but like I say still praised them for getting Moyes, said he respected them for that. He clearly wanted to come back

I didn’t even hear Pearce criticise them.
GSB really think they run North Korea

If memory serves correct, I think Pearce said that he never met Sullivan & Brady during his stay and found that a bit strange. Hardly scathing criticism.

They are very sensitive to criticism and that's why the protests planned are vital to put pressure on them.

I wonder how that went down with Moyes.

For a bunch of utterly detestable, outspoken arseholes, it's quite funny that they are so precious when the shoe is on the other foot.

Shows why some of the media, permanently brown nose them, just to stay in their good books, and to be fed the occasional line.

Shorter version: the manager's plans on how best to make the team succeed on the field come second to the not making the board feel :'(

To be fair he said "It won't happen. I think the owners felt I was a little bit critical of the regime when we left last time and put the block on it," Therefore he is speculating. It doesn't mean they didn't, but the criticism he made at the time was very tame to block a job offer bearing in mind most of the fans would want him. Good servant to the club, but personally I would prefer Moyes brings a couple of the younger generation in.

Not sure what to make of the Pearce thing in truth. Whatever is true or not it's not helping Moyes and I am sure he will be asked about it at his next press conference.

Guess he needs to toe the party line and say he is happy with the backroom staff he is got and it's a non story

One thing i was pleased with was that they looked shattered after half an hour. it kinda told me that he had been working them very hard for the past few days
Whereas under Pellegrini we looked ****ed after the warm up! Progress has been swift under Moyes.

What an absolute joke. So they get rid of some guys after doing a good job, and they are annoyed because someone says they do not like the decision? Or because he said he never saw the owners (or was it just Brady and Sullivan? I can't recall).

This is the sort of ego-driven bull**** that holds the club back from actually moving forward.

Best of it is it is a self-inflicted wound. If they had let him come back like Moyes wanted there would have been no story!

Laughable, and apparently we’re not a circus anymore?

So an ex WH player, a legend for his country, an ex premier league manager who also managed our national u21 squad for a good few years, a bloke our new manager wanted and has worked with previously, is blocked from returning as he said in an interview that he never saw the owners or Brady, which no doubt is a fact?

Ridiculous

I loved the way Pearce still managed to get a little dig in when he said "they were humble enough to pick up the phone to David (Moyes) after telling him he wasnt good enough a couple of years ago"

I just wish Pearce had been on with that bum-licker Jim White.

I've a lot of time for Stuart Pearce and he's always come across as a straight no bs bloke. We really could have done with his presence but it is what it is. I truly hope Brady gets some karma flying her way someday, horrible woman.
