This was a winnable game, what's he saving Antonio for, Liverpool?

Setting up not to lose, hoping to nick a draw will not get you out of trouble.
I guess it seemed a risk starting Antonio in case he broke down. He did make a massive difference when he cane on though.
In all honesty, I don’t think any manager can save us from relegation with this car crash of a squad.
This is all on the owners and if they watched that tonight they should be ashamed of how they’ve underinvested in the squad.

Antonio is our best player, yes Antonio, a player who gives everything he has but lacks vital qualities to be a top premier league player, his finishing is often wayward as is his passing. He’s a player that would struggle to get in most premier league teams yet he is our best player. Sign of the times
I mentioned it earlier, but I don't think he's our best player, I think Fornals probably is (Anderson was earlier in the year).

What Antonio is however is our most important player.

He's the only player we have who has the pace to truly disrupt a defense, and that unique skillset opens up space for our good, but not pacy MFs (Anderson, Fornals) and takes pressure off our just plain slow MFs (noble, Rice, Snodgrass). Without any pace the field shrinks because defenses know that all we can do is heave it up to Haller who has a good chance to win the header, but has no support, and isn't going to beat the defenders with pace. Antonio makes the long ball or through ball dangerous, makes players sit back a bit farther.

Did Burnley decide that Leicester and Man U were unwinnable games? No, of course not. Now they are half way up the league
Did Southampton think a point was a decent result away to Leicester? No, they went and won 2-1
[/quote]

Whilst tonight was a shitshow and Moyes is no Messiah let's not pretend Burnley played for a win against Leicester and Man Utd.

Leicester had the same number of chances against Burnley as they did against us, they just didn't take them and Burnley just about managed a couple more efforts on target.

Tonight they had less possession against Man Utd, less shots on goal and faced more shots against them than we did against Leicester. They worked hard, rode their luck and took their chances. Plus in Pope they have a keeper every bit as good as Fab.

Burnley under Dyche are another Allardyce/Pullis sit back, hit it long and hope team. Not dissimilar to how we set up first half really.

Southampton I agree with. After the 9-0 Hasenhuttl made a decision to go back to what they'd been doing previously, which was 2 up top and those 2 need to run, harass and pressurise the defenders until they're knackered and he replaces them both around 60 min.

Unfortunately we can't even consider doing that as we only have 2 ****ing strikers, one of which doesn't press and the other had been so impressive in training that 2 managers have seen nothing to suggest putting him on the pitch.

Jermaine Jenus spot on... The game now is about pressing, pace athletisism etc
With that in mind we have an over the hill right back a centre midfielder who never gets above a jog and Lanzini who would struggle to get in our ladies team.
I wouldnt want to be Moyes with the players he has available right now hes on a hiding to nothing!
We just don't have the players for that in our midfield. You need pace and energy to play that way, but Leicester have younger, faster, fitter players.

Not sure about this...
Fair enough - I stand corrected! I’m maybe guilty of judging just by what I saw in real time and Arthur’s previous.

You must have an extremely high pain threshold to be able to sit through that re-run and offer such a detailed analysis.

The problem is one that none of us, and clearly not the manager or the owners, really got our heads around at the start of the season. We have almost ZERO pace as a side, people talk about 'setting up for a point' and 'starting on the back foot' and then claim others don't do that, but they do. Saints were battered by Leicester played five at the back but won with pacey breaks, tonight Man Utd had 72% and god knows how many shots against the Burnley parked bus, but Burnley scored with pacey movement.

We simply have to little pace to threaten allowing teams to take liberties knowing we won't capitalise, it's a massive problem, from Liverpool to Norwich every team knows how to play against West Ham just press us into making errors because we simply won't exploit any space you leave, why? because we have almost ZERO pace.

Spend some money on a couple of speed merchants, at least it will keep the opposition honest, Leicester had injuries to their top scorer, had to bring on a sub to cover another injury who only had surgery 10 days ago ... and yet still they won't get much easier wins all season ...

How is it that we all have the answers to our problems, yet no one at the club seems to, it’s baffling how we can sit there and watch performances like tonight along with ex pros, commentators and even people that don’t have a clue about football and we can all see what the problem is, we all have the same opinions about what is needed in the premier league. Does anyone inside the club take any notice of these opinions and views or are they just too arrogant to acknowledge to accept them. We’ve all been through this before but we’ve never been promised so much. The club needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom and I’m sorry to say that it’s not going to be pretty

Nah. No matter how many Liverpool score, they’ll still only get 6.

We didn't lose because of moyes. We lost because Leicester have a much better side than we do. We badly lack pace and energy. Nobody at all able to drive up the pitch at pace and counter attack properly. We're just too slow and predictable to do well... all we can offer at the moment is huff and puff.

everything you needed to know about the 2 teams was when Harvey barnes gave zabaleta 10/15 yards in the 1st half and went past him easily only for cresswell to save the day , we are light years behind and our 1 lightening quick young player is playing 5 miles up the road @ WBA . the utter ineptitude of the board , the whole playing staff is a disgrace

Fornals, Lanzini, Noble, Snodgrass, Zab, Haller in a 100m dash. I honestly think Noble would have an outside chance - that's how pacy 6/10 of our outfield players are . We have zero chance of staying up without 3 or 4 new players.

It’s not Zabaletas fault, at any other club, they would identify a problem area and bring someone in capable of filling that role, we don’t do that here, our philosophy with everything we do at the club is like our playing style, hit and hope
