I'm not saying we would have taken a point if Ogbonna hadn't given away that penalty - but we might have done. But after that 3rd? We were dead and buried.
We might have, sure, because of course we cannot now rule it out.

We do however have to factor in that our only shot on target was the penalty and that it was conceded when Haller was actually departing from the penalty area, with his back to goal.

I actually thought it was the softest penalty I have seen for years and that the ref was tricked by the player looking like he was chasing a ball, but he had in fact slowed down or even stopped to invite the defender to make only minimal contact with him.

Haller did nothing else, Lanzini too, to suggest that we would score in any other manner.

It comes to something when even the likes of Robbie Savage can spot the glaring lack of pace and mobility in our team and the non existent “threat” in midfield.

So blindingly obvious.
Did Savage mention a lack of pace?

Worst owners in the league
Worst stadium in the league
One of the worst managers in the league
One of the worst squads

No quality
No passion
No pace
No pride

We are heading down. Make no mistake

At least we’ll be able to forget about the league at the weekend and enjoy the cup!
I'm thinking you meant another word instead of enjoy, pj..

There was just one piece of good news from this match. At least we won't see that useless plodding Snodgrass again this season and we may yet have seen his last in a West Ham shirt. Rejoice in that news. :scarfer: His absence I would say slightly, but not by much, improves our chances of staying up

I enjoyed the bit where our non-existent midfield, allowed their midfielders the freedom of the park, for 90 minutes.
It was a bit longer than that..

He's getting on, but you can't fault the bloke for effort, imo.

Far from useless, in comparison with others, too.

Strange one to target...

Anyone think we will play a full strength team in the cup?

Moyes will be on the naughty step if he even thinks about playing our strongest team.

My second game this season after Wolves, I doubt I will be going again for some time, they don't come and see me when I'm bad.
Watching our next to nonexistent midfield last night struggling for pace once more and the suggestion from some is an almost 30 year old with no pace playing in relegation fight in the Championship and a 29 year old without pace who can't get a game while on loan, mind boggling. Still, like Moyes they were good 10 years ago so they fit the bill perfectly. :thdn:

Yeah, lets be happy that the player who has more goals and assists than anyone else per minute, and who always puts in 100% committed performances week in week out is injured

Brilliant

Boom, in the net the penalty goes (A good penalty it was too, keeper had no chance), our heads drop, game well and truly out of our reach, Leicester then get their tales up and the 4th then follows.

Very accurate, DL.

When i watch west ham I dont see a side who aren't up for the fight... its just our fight generally isn't as good as the opposition's & isn't enough to get us the wins required.

The first half was absolutely atrocious, up there with one of the worst displays I've seen for a while. Second half much better mainly because of Antonio coming on, ok we lost the second half as well but clearly we were pushing to get back in the game, I don't mind that, I would rather lose 4-1 and have a go than just losing 2-0.

I have 2 questions:
1 - Why does it take Antonio being on the pitch and putting himself about before the rest of the players can be bothered to put a shift in?
2 - Why is it becoming a recurring theme under Moyes that we seem to start slowly and then he puts a rocket up their backsides at half time, can't he just do that from the first whistle?

Are you talking about this game or every other game we've played for god knows how long?

Damage limitation first half and go for it in second.

We're not fit enough to play all out for 90 minutes. It'll take a couple of weeks yet to get the fitness up. Shocking for a top club.

I've heard that all of our training complexes (Rush Green, Chadwell Heath and a couple of others) cost £7.5m in total, and that Fleetwood Town spent £6m on theirs.

Our training facilities are literally at a league 1 level.
