I challenge you to lose to my GSB XI.

Does exactly what it says on the tin - the forum for football-related discussion.

I challenge you to lose to my GSB XI.

Post by Aztec Hammer » Fri Feb 07, 2020 1:28 pm

rules: All players had to have been signed for us under the the three stooges, and had to have played at least one first team game in our shirt. The goal is to put a team out that can lose to my team. There are so many options but I’m intrigued to see if we get any consensus choices!

Roberto
Arbeloa Pogatetz Relegator Armero
Petric Sanchez Barrera
Zaza McCarthy Mido

Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Avram

I believe there are no goals in my team, so good luck losing to them!

Personally I'd have Moyes as manager.

You could probably put together a squad of players who they bought that never even played or started a game.

Raphael Spiegel
Stephen Hendrie
George John
Doneil Henry (may have 1 app in Europa League Qual)
Abdul Razak
Wellington Paulista
Brian Montenegro (one cup sub appearance)
Nene (8 sub apps only)
Jordan Hugill (a total of 22 mins over 3 sub apps)
Joe Dixon
Sean Maguire
Janaai Gordon-Hutton
Luka Belic

I'd have Masuaku at left back

Am I the only one who didn't think Roger Johnson wasn't THAT bad?

He wasn't. He had a nightmare first match being thrown from the 3rd Tier straight into the Lion's Den - away at the country's dominant force, Man City. He'd barely had a chnace to train with his new team-mates!
He actually improved very considerably after that game, and by the end of the 6 months was quite decent. But unfortunately for him, the stigma of that 1st game - and that infamous video of him 'defending' against Yaya Toure - just stuck and never went away..

Personally I can't stunned how anyone wouldn't put Patrice Evra as first name on this teamsheet  , but I guess looking at the suggestions so far I am alone in that!

Armero, Rat, Bridge, Evra, Masuaku

I’m noticing a trend that we are particularly bargain basement useless in a certain area of the field!

(incoming examples of how we are exactly the same at EVERY position)

Hopefully this thread further highlights the ineptitude of GSB.

Pogatetz would be my captain for his performance against Spurs where he came on late with us winning 2-1 and we lost 3-2 thanks largely to his complete and utter ineptitude.

Too broad to just choose a single XI, there's enough to fill different genres – the 'Bosman In-Bosman Out XI' of players that we signed for free but still didn't manage to make a profit on when they departed, the Nene-Evra Over 30s Invitational signed due to glamour club history, Puff's memorial XI of youth players bought for c.£1m before being released to non-league...

I think the fans who threw his shirt back at him when he'd thrown it into the crowd after ( yet another) defeat would disagree with you!

Some of these choices are ludicrous and should be nowhere near the worst team. Adrian over Roberto alone. Have you been drinking, SLWO?

To be fair i think he only played about 6 times for us .... and in in 2 of them he was nigh on MoM.

As per previous when he was the 1 against 4 and back tracking probably didnt help as we all remember that. But strangely nobody cares about the missing 9 who barely jogged back ....

He's saying that some freebies/low cost players DO work out...
