Man City (Non-WHU)

Post by Believer » Fri Feb 14, 2020 6:38 pm

Banned from all UEFA football for 2 years for breach of FFP !

This is massive. They could lose a lot of players now and fail to buy others..

So does that mean 5th spot now gets you in the CL, or will the quota be reduced to 3 clubs?

So 5th place is now a CL spot? Makes our pitiful attempt at a season even more frustrating

Nah. England still has 4 places allocated.

If they have broken financial fair play rules in Europe, how have they not broken the rules in the premier league. There has to be a lot of questions asked as when they are paying over the top prices for certain players then surely that has a knock on effect for prices in general. How can they keep on paying big money and wages for players?

If Manchester City lose their appeal then the team which finished fifth in the Premier League MIGHT qualify for next season's Champions League

If it happens (see transfer bans), they'll just nick someone else's Europa league place.

Edit: the Beeb now saying it applies to all Uefa competitions, not just the Champions League.

Except of course it won't :thdn:

“The decision "is subject to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)".“

So expect an appeal and the ruling overturned then. Just a scare tactic and will eventually be a “Ok, well have a slap on the wrist instead and promise me you won’t do it again?!” type punishment.

They have probably been breaching FFP for years, but have got away with it

Currently that mob from Yorkshire

I'll be amazed if Man City actually serve this ban.

Would anyone see this as being any worse than what we did with Tevez, for me Man City needs proper auditing to get to the bottom of this and then proper sanctions. They have spent £1.44b in the last ten years, that’s £500m more than Liverpool and Liverpool definitely have a bigger world wide fan base than them which makes it odd that Man City can afford to spend that much more

There have been similar things happening at Saracens on a much lower scale and they face relegation

Incredible achievement if it happens, regardless of the technicality.

Just hits home even harder what a ****ing car crash Of a football club we’ve been in the same period that Chris Wilder’s been in that job

Won’t actually be enforced. Not sure how Man City could be guilty but PSG, Barca, Juve, and Real Madrid can’t be?

Loathsome club. No relation to the Citeh of my youth when they were so many of ours second/northern team.

They’re clearly crooked to the core, and to make it worse, their manager is an irritating smug prick and they win games a lot based on niggly little fowls that go unpunished

Hope they are kicked out. Hate them

For me this is PSG all over again and UEFA flexing their muscles to justify their existence, it will be one a season from now on to try and keep power,

Corrupt as f*** UEFA

Sadly though this will be spun by our owners and their old FFP excuses for spending will be rolled out again pleading poverty and how close to the wind they are sailing

Not good for our support this
