Surely they should just be made to forfeit their next league match and award the points to their opponents. Would seem to be plenty sufficient to me.

Won’t actually be enforced. Not sure how Man City could be guilty but PSG, Barca, Juve, and Real Madrid can’t be?
Those clubs are untouchable, City are not.

I'm 100% behind this idea.

Saracens in the rugby prem were found guilty of something similar and ended up being relegated to the championship next season. I know that this is a European football ruling and nothing to do with the league so no relegation. Saracens decided not to appeal or they would have had to open their finances up for scrutiny and decided to take their medicine. Today Alliance have pulled their two million pound stadium and shirt sponsor deal with Saracens for next season. So I wonder if this will affect any of Cities sponsorship deals. Not that they need it but that counts towards their income so they may have their hands tied in the transfer market if sponsors were to pull out. :?

Very much so. UEFA barely try to conceal their hatred of the PL, and City don’t have the political influence of the “classic” European giants. I wouldn’t be shocked if some legitimate sanctions are enforced, perhaps to quietly be reduced at a later date, on receipt of a suitable cash payment from someone completely unconnected to the club.

I'd rather Citeh be a dominant force in English football than Chelsea.

Do you remember the Semi Final Vs Arsenal, ref blew for offside, Van Persie shot less than a second later and then was given a second yellow card?
I think that was the only time I have been watching a game and an incident has made me change who I wanted to win.

I'm normally cynical about big clubs getting away with breaking the rules, or the rules being re-made when a big club breaks them. But this case has been brewing for some time, the evidence is pretty damming, City trying to get out of it on a technicality that won't hold up. The other traditional big clubs in Europe, bar PSG, know they can't compete with the money from the UAE, so this is their opportunity to hold City to account and won't let go of it. No surprise it was a German newspaper that blew the whistle.

Sorry City you were a great community club up to a decade or so ago, not unlike WHU, but you sold your soul (as did we , but for much less money).

Ethiad are Cities biggest sponsor, and owned by the owners of the club. I don't think City will have anything to worry about in that respect.

Financially doped now and they will be in the future, two seasons is not enough.

I guess it may be reduced to one year on appeal but they will face a ban, I’m pretty certain.

It’s there questionable sponsorship that has led to the ban.

Has nothing to do with what the club was, and all to do who the club is run by

Without any evidence to back up my gut feeling - I think they're TV poison. Consequently, the people funding all this stuff via TV subscription income want them gone.

If they pull in <40k at a weekend cup tie on the same day that a team as pony as West Ham pull in c.60k , then the love just ain't there.

A lot of sense in this. They’re thoroughly unlikeable

Perfect timing! They will be passing the ball around like weak kittens as they sulk their way through their next match!

Incredible achievement if it happens, regardless of the technicality.
Just hits home even harder what a ****ing car crash Of a football club we’ve been in the same period that Chris Wilder’s been in that job
From EFL Div 1 to Champions League in 3 or 4 years.
Now THAT'S next level performance..

Money always talks. Look at Chelsea’s truncated ban.

Frankly, I just see it as another victory for the established elite.

FFP was brought in to keep the same teams in top positions. City broke in the only way you can: spend ludicrous amounts of money.
