Kane should have at least hit the target...Sterling closer to the corner flag than the goal...

Sterling has to be one of the most frustrating players I’ve seen in a while

Absolutely! The biggest Marmite player for years. (I'm in the no camp for the record).Loftyhammer wrote:Sterling has to be one of the most frustrating players I’ve seen in a while

Were gonna do a Croatia on em in the second half
Re: #63 England v Belgium ~ 3rd /4th place match thread
We've played two good teams and been exposed twice, the tactic of scoring two goals a game from set-pieces is not a long-term tactic or even really a tactic. Back to normality gentlemen, I think we'll be out group stages next tournament or squeeze through, Southgate isn't a good enough manager to come up with a game plan against better teams or change it while it's in progress, the waistcoat and nice guy has exempted him from criticism
Thought Pope might've played, only keeper without a minute, seems a tad harsh and surely TAA at right back, i

It's very easy to get England to a tournament semifinal, apparently.

Belgium have had 10 different goal scorers this World Cup.
Just in case ITV have not mentioned it yet.

Even that bloody Lidl advert just asks Sterling about how bloody fast he is so's Walcott at least every now and then he scores a goal or crosses it.

Re: #63 England v Belgium ~ 3rd /4th place match thread
he can only play what he has at his disposal..
Wilshire might have made a difference and Barkley hasn't kicked a ball in anger for Chelsea at all this year. Drinkwater is more defensive minded and he has enough options there anyway...
City - English AMC - Nope
Man. U - ditto - Nope
Liverpool - ditto - Nope - Ox may have helped.....
Chelsea - ditto - Nope
Arsenal - ditto - Nope.....
Leicester - ditto - Nope
Spurs - ditto - Nope unless you class Alli in that and he hasn't exactly shone
Everton - Tom Davies , Dominica Calvert-Lewin is listed but plays in a front 3 or Walcott
Newcastle - Shelvey and many called for his inclusion, not really the Eden Hazard type we require
so until we find someone who can break down an opponent then we are pretty well stuck.........

Re: #63 England v Belgium ~ 3rd /4th place match thread
Apparently some MP has asked that ITV is banned from broadcasting all of England's future competitive football matches. Demanding that only the BBC should have the rights to them.
Something about our abysmal record on ITV.

I get what you're saying CA and agree (we're missing maybe 4 midfielders through injury that would have helped) but there isn't any plan b that i can see. I've been positive this whole World Cup and I'm happy with how it's gone overall. However he could have tried Delph as DM and moved Henderson up into a more advanced role or a shed load of possibilities but he hasn't and that's something that needs working on regardless of the personnel available.

@ Faithless
true mate,,with the pace we do have, the occasional long ball to Sterling/Rashford would have been a different look sometime. slow build up allows players to retreat and get numbers behind the ball....
