Always in control of every game they played, never looked like losing any fixtures the whole way through, pretty dull but it's a result business and Deschamps has showed that with two finals in two years and this time coming out on top.
France were dull!?

WTF are you on about!!

It wasn't var, it wasn't France it wasn't even some buggery by FIFA. It was a classic case of bad refereeing.

Against Australia boring
Peru pretty boring 1-0
Denmark 0-0
Argentina played on the counter, made the most of Mbappe's pace
Uruguay good perofrmance
Belgium played on the counter again
Croatia played on the counter

France got dominated(by choice pretty much) in every knockout game, as they knew Mbappe and Griezman on the counter, equals happy days.

They were a counter attacking team the majority of the way through, they never let any players off the leash, they've even received that criticism in France, they were drilled and game plan to a tee but it wasn't exciting football by any stretch

Possession

vs Argentina 39%
vs Uruguay 62%
vs Belgium 36%
vs Croatia 34 %

Pretty much soaked up pressure in every game then hit on the counter, hell I think even Peru dominated possession against them

Just googled this, different sources

Counter-attacking France reigns supreme in World Cup of underdogs

Ruthless French counter-attacking, bags of Croatian resolve, flashes of Kylian Mbappe brilliance, scintillating goals, even a VAR penalty: if ever a final reflected the tournament that it concluded then this was surely it.

France are a counter-attacking team at heart

Were you not bored while watching their 4-3 win over Argentina, or the 4-2 Final win over Croatia?

They were exciting games but mainly due to Argentina being massively tactically imbalanced and hitting Mbappe on the counter constantly, soaking up the Argie pressure and then quick counter, they hardly took the game to them
Same with Croatia yesterday, soaked up the pressure, quick long ball to Giroud or out wide to the pacey Mbappe and Griezman

There is a reason France were dominated in possession in the majority of the knockout games, as that was their game plan

Rio Ferdinand
Counter attacking team doesnt = Dull. Don't care what that knob Rio says.

Sam Allardyce teams are dull.
David Moyes' teams are dull.
Tony Pulis teams are dull.

France were anything but dull. Thats a terrible insult aimed at a team containing Pogba, Mbappe and Griezmann.

Just because France played counter attacking when it suited them, doesn't mean that they are automatically a counter attacking team.

Modern football is all about not taking risks and leaving yourself open at the back, and this is even more pertinent in tournament football, so if you have a player with the pace and skill of Mbappe, why not use that to your advantage?
