Don't visit the Sports Bar section of KUMB as much as I should but was intrigued when I saw this thread, especially as I like a flutter on the horses myself. Never knew about this competition and was gutted I only found out about it 2 days into the festival. Will definitely be entering the next time it's run.

Some talk within the industry that it could be called off.

Subject to an announcement from the Government today about what phase of Coronavirus we're on apparently.

There's a market on the Betfair Exchange. On Sunday or Monday, racing going ahead was 1.8 and cancelled was 2.2.

There's now been £2,467,200 matched on the market [unbelievable for a silly market like this!] - anyway the current odds are on= 1.4, off= 3.3. So you like to be optimistic.

Following the government announcement the day before yesterday if I remember correctly, it was more something like on 1.3, off 4.8 or something, but money will naturally come for it to be cancelled I suppose.

Either way, they need to make the decision either today or tomorrow! I'm glad the festival is next week as I think if it was the week after it would be off, but for now I'm confident.

As for the Grand National, a market has just opened on whether racing will be on at Aintree on 2nd April. Whilst not too much money has been matched on that one yet, cancellation/postponement is the clear favourite.

Still think 7/2 is worth a little go.

Indeed, if we can't bet on the horses, then why not.

Exchange odds now 8.8. On is 1.15, but someone has thrown down a lot of money with £5k+ able to back at 1.15.

With racing going ahead now at odds shorter than 1/10, I'm happy to announce I will be running this competition again this year.

Difference this time around is I am actually going! For Tues/Wed only. Cannot wait, particularly for Wednesday which looks to be an absolute corker. I am making the trip in each direction early Tues/late Wed, so this means there will not be the usual daily update on Wednesday night. However I will do the updates for the Wed + Thu either on Thu night or Fri morning, so we will know where everyone stands.

I have PM'd several people who have joined this competition before. If you haven't, please be aware it is merely for fun and I recommend you take part if you have even a passing interest! Good luck all. I will make the post, which explains all the rules and officially opens the competition, tomorrow.

Well played r99c...

Just for official purposes, can I let it be known to the engraver of the trophy, that my name begins with small case letters.
