Cheltenham 2016 (Long running competition)

Post by davids cross »

Following on from the competition in the Cheltenham thread I thought it might be an idea to have a racing competition running throughout the year. There seems to be a good few people who like a punt on the horses. It's open to anyone, if you are a serious punter or just like a Saturday bet it makes no difference, you don't even have to know much about racing, the more the better.

I will pick one meeting every Saturday and you will have to give a selection for every race at that one meeting.

Points scoring.......10 for winner, 5 for a second and 3 for a third..............Also to have an added dimension there will be extra points for every winner at 4-1 or better, this is to reward better priced winners. So the extra points would be scored as follows

A winner between 4-1 and 4.99 would get an extra 4 points
A winner between 5-1 and 5.99 would get an extra 5 points etc............

This would continue up the scale, so for example a 33-1 winner would get an extra 33 points. The SP will be how this is calculated.

Non Runners will automatically go onto the favourite..........if more than one favourite it will be the horse nearest the top of the racecard.

Please give a nap for inexperienced players this means the one of your selections which you think is mostly likely to win, just put (nap) after the horses name, if it wins it will double your score from 10 to 20 but the SP points will NOT be doubled.

Entries will only be included if posted before "the off" of the first race on the Saturday.

If we get a few interested I will do the scoring, if not I won't bother

Sign in below if you want to give it a go.......will start next Saturday if there's enough.

FK, sicknote, hawkins are in already.

Good shout this.

Reckon we'll leave it up to DC to choose the meet as well or else it could get messy.

Trouble with that sicknote is that there are now 48 hour declerations. If you give the meeting too early in the week a load of horses will be non runners by the time of the race on Saturday. I think Thurs would be the earliest day it could be done. I will try to give out the meeting on Thurs..........hope this will help I don't think it could be done any earlier.

I dont really follow the flat so much so i imagine i will get tonked on that. Although i was convinced I had the winner of the Derby last year on Tartan Bearer. And i was convinced i still had the winner with a furlong to go. Also the last Breeders Cup was awesome...listening to Americans moaning about synthetic turf because it made it a level playing field and all their 'greats' got beaten.
