Decent card, as it goes, but too late for me. Just got the token 5 second round up from the MOTD pundits before bedtime.

I've watched 2 fights and another starting .....in the time the jockeys have been introduced, the Browns q.b. told them to "saddle up," the crowd sang My Old Kentucky Home and now we're ready to get the horses into the starting gate..

for the Kentucky Derby

race lasted about 2 minutes........

two horses in toward the front @ 71-1 and 54-1 - weird odds !!!!!

VAR review !!!!!!!!!! winner came off the rails and interfered with another 2 horses.....

:D

15 minutes and STILL no decision...

winner disqualified !!!!!!!

FIRST TIME EVER ..............................................

last two times he's been on, he's bee n mustard..before that he seemed to be a little up and down..

I think he must fight like about every 4 weeks or so it seems !!!!!

some fighters are a year or so in between fights, but he fights so regularly......

think he had his nipper in last time and said something like: after seeing my family at ringside how could I not perform...

or along those lines..

want to say he battered some big time fighter too...

good card tonight - title fight which should be a good 'un..

Rose Namajunas vs. Jessica Andrade TITLE FIGHT
Anderson Silva vs. Jared Cannonier
Jose Aldo vs. Alexander Volkanovski
Thiago Alves vs. Laureano Staropoli

thoughts anyone ?

Staggered Alves is still fighting, TBH. He had some serious medical issue a while back that featured the term "brain irregularities". Add to that the much more strict drug testing, and it's pretty incredible he's still in the game after nearly 20 decades of fighting. Wouldn't be surprised if he loses this, purely due to the amount of miles he's got on the clock, but will be delighted for him if he wins.

Aldo seems some distance from his best, when he was an absolute murderer, but this does seem to be a match made to favour him.

Don't know enough about WMMA, but the consensus is that Rose needs good cage control & distance management to win it.

Anderson's definitely lost a step since USADA stopped him taking the dick pills, but he's still the best fighter ever to enter the Octagon (IMO). Will probably lose by UD, now I've said all that.

 Dan'

always good to get some insight - all I seem to do is watch and the odd "big" name comes across and I think "I know him/her..."

I do really enjoy the Cowboy though, he always seems to give vfm.

I'll find a stream for this evening.........

and report back

8-)

seen the women fight before and Andrade v Namajumas should be a bit of a war....

There's a few "must watch" fighters on the UFC's roster - Cowboy, Matt Brown, Lawlor, Khabib, to name a few. Ones who bring the action and are genuinely there to fight, not score points.

I get most of my "information" from Sherdog.com these days. Steer clear of the forum, which is acutely annoying, and full of 13 year old American trolls, but some of the front page articles are quite informative.

Andrade has been in a couple of fights that I have seen and she's good. beat Karolina Kowalkiewicz

Namanjunas beat Joanna Jędrzejczyk twice I think...

should be decent card though...

Rio's 2 hours ahead of me so I'll have to keep a look out for the time...means the headliner will be on about 9-10 ish I reckon.....

just noticed:

Tony Ferguson vs. Donald Cerrone set for UFC 238 on June 8 in Chicago

not much reporting to be done...

went out for a few early afternoon beers with some friends.

stumbled home around 8:30 ish...climbing down the mud embankment, fell arse over tit, cut above the eye and elbow.

staggered into the building, blood running down my face unable to explain to the building guard what happened.

put the fights on, fell asleep, woke up a bit, went to bed with the laptop to watch at least the ladies title fight

passed out....

oh well....memo to self, don't drink 8% afternoon beers.....

Fairly weak UFC Fight Night card this weekend. Kevin Lee vs RDA is an interesting matchup, though - I absolutely love watching Dos Anjos fight, he's every inch the "leave it all in the cage" type of fighter. I think Lee is probably marginal favourite here, though, as his wrestle-boxing style is always useful. He's also a lot younger and has fewer miles on the clock.

Amazed to see Ed Herman still fighting, though he's well down on the undercard. Great bloke, and was fun to watch on TUF3, but I suspect this could well be his last waltz in the big leagues.

Aaaaaaand both Dos Anjos and Herman get stoppage wins - RDA by arm triangle & Herman via TKO (knees & punches). Further evidence to support my refusal to bet on sports.

Dan

Stockholm fights must be good for your time zone ?

keeps you (and me) away from the Spurs/Bini Dipper game probably......

11:00 a.m. my time right now almost, and 8 more fights to come ................

Camacho just destroyed Hein......

and Santos just destroyed Ray.

several solid under-card matched also so far..

Makwan Amirkhani vs. Chris Fishgold solid fight going to Amirkhani don't know much about him but looked good technically

Jimi Manuwa vs. Aleksandar Rakic WHOA !! Rakic with a kick to the head Manuwa out cold before he hit the canvas - well done by Rakic didn't even pursue him - knew he was out

Smith beats Gustaffsen with a naked choke I think... excellent win....

real solid card especially for a freebie (well they're all free for me but this was an ESPN fight card)

Smith said he broke his hand in the first round punching his opponent....."I felt it swelling up inside my glove and had to find another way to fight...."

Gustaffsen might have retired... threw his gloves down in the ring and said "The show is over guys..."

next week should be a good weekend.

Cejudo v Moraes
Schevchenko v Eye
Ferguson v Cerrone

Re: UFC

well that fight card lived up to it's billing that's for sure

decentish undercard but the top 3 fights !!!

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tony Ferguson def. Donald Cerrone

poor Cowboy got a mauling. did get hit really hard after the bell in one round, but was getting his ass whupped.

think his nose broke (again) he snotted out the clot and his right eye completely closed. no way he could have gone on - the commentators said "we're always told NOT to blow out....."

Valentina Shevchenko def. Jessica Eye

Brian Ortega tweeted one word 'F**k"

nearly knocked her head off...... must have been unconscious for about 2-3 minutes it seemed.

Henry Cejudo def. Marlon Moraes

got bossed the first round then after that it was turn out the lights.....
