Yeah me and a few mates went a couple of years ago.
West Ham played at home to Sunderland that day, we'd played poor and needed a injury time Nolan goal to get a point and it just pissed me off that we couldn't beat them so cos I had the hump I wasn't looking forward to it but what a great night it was, jugs of beer, great atmosphere between the table seats and the stands.
Don't think I saw a dart thrown though

used to go every year without fail, whether it was the old BDO at Frimley Green when it was still half decent, the PDC at Circus Tavern or at Ally Pally
Both Frimley Green and the Circus Tavern were superb venues. Decent balance between having beer and watching the darts. Vast majority of crowd into the darts and knowledgeable. The players sitting in with the crowd, or propping up the bar
Nowadays the PDC at Ally Pally is 90% full of helmets too busy chanting completely irrelevant football chants i.e the Toure one, or having bantzzzzz between tables and stands, to watch the darts. Plus Ally Pally is far too big a venue for the sport

Crouchend 's last paragraph is spot on.
Barry Hearn is slowly killing darts as a spectacle to go and watch if you're a dart fan.
It's now a glorified nightclub with some darts being thrown as a side show, not a world championships.

Not into the whole chavvy chanting to be honest, hopefully i'll be too drunk to care.

This
Never went Frimley Green but had a couple of nights at the Circus Tavern. Was there 1 year for the QFs, 4 games, 2 in the day session, 2 in the night. All 4 games were classics - Wayne Mardle v Colin Lloyd, they had to replace the board as the treble20 was obliterated !! Bob Anderson was on last and threw a strop at the late start and noisy atmosphere.
Loved it there.. went twice to the Ally and never again. Full of stag-do style bellendsthat go for the interval song!

I had a great time...And I am a darts fan.
Great atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Had a cracking table, just to the right of the oche, about 3 back. Perfect view.
Would recommend it to anyone.
Still buzzing now.
The fact I could walk home is just an added bonus

van Barnelveld - van Gerwin.
What a f****ng match!
Fair play to Barney, he's had two tough matches. If he's gonna go all the way he would of done it the hard way.

Trouble with MvG losing is that it opens the way for Phil Taylor to win the whole thing

Get in there Jelle Klaasen. Good to see him finally fulfilling his potential. Would love to see him win it

Anyone could win it this year, it's wide open! Taylor and MVG out. Lewis or Barney to win for me.

I'm glad Taylor's out, can't stand the bloke tbf. Really arrogant and cocky in interviews, plus those faces he was pulling behind Klaasen's back - no need for it.
Anderson - Wade tonight will be tasty.

I refuse to go Ally Pally due to it not being a true darts crowd there.
Shame as the standard is immense and this years tournament has thrown up some truly outstanding games.
It's too close to call. Anderson slight favourite for me, but I believe anyone but Norris is a genuine contender.
