Durrant winning not that much of a surprise for me. Top quality player, and MVG not been in brilliant form lately.jastons wrote:Has anyone been watching the World Matchplay this week? I think it's been fantastic, and plenty of upsets.
Durrant knocked out Van Gerwen last night.

Well your wish was granted. Hammered Wade 16-7. Typical graceless behaviour at the end from Wade too. Reckon Durrant could well go on and win it now.jastons wrote:Hopefully Durrant will smash the bell end James Wade tonight.

Re: darts
I'm glad that Cross won in the end, at the start of the match I wasn't bothered about who won, but listening to the commentators banging on and on about Smith when he was making a game of it, made me cheer on Cross.
Not a great final, both players are capable of playing much better.

^^^
Standard was poor. But it was exciting once Smith started racking up the legs, but he gave himself too much to do in the end.
Don't like all the booing from the crowd when a player is taking his throw. Bit c***ish that.

Re: darts
Caught the last few sets of Price vs Wright. No handshake at the end but no surprise because Price is a bit of a twat. And that's coming from a fellow Welshman. No wonder hardly anyone likes him!
Re: darts
He does seem to like to throw his weight around. Hope Wright finally goes on and wins the big one, been runner up in too many other tournaments. Expect it will be Van Gerwen though.

Re: darts
I would like to see Peter Wright beat MVG in tomorrow's Final, he's been a runner up enough times in tournaments, time to nail the big one.
On a separate note, the BDO tournament seems to be doomed. No longer at Lakeside, Frimley Green where it has been held for many years, it is now at the Indigo O2!! Ticket sales apparently are down by 85% and as a result, the BDO have announced prize funds will be reduced "somewhat" .

Re: darts
Had a bit of a run in with pretty much every opponent he comes up against. Apparently giving it the biggun to Wright before the match had even started.
Fair play for apologising this morning though.

Re: darts
Price seems like a total prick. His apology to me seems a little half hearted and still contains digs at Wright.
Just read that Fallon has now pulled out of the Woman's BDO Championship and that the overall price fund has been dropped.
Is this the beginning of the end for the BDO?
Less Money, more top players pulling our or moving to the PDC, No longer at Lakeside and not even on the BBC.

Re: darts
BDO is a shambles. Not promoted the move of venue at all. I found out yesterday. Now moaning that ticket sales are low. Prices are high for what is basically league one darts. 85% cut in prize money isn’t going to encourage the better players to stay. The organisation will be gone within 6 months

Re: darts
No one can blame Sherrock for pulling out, she's just won £25,000 for reaching the last 32 in the PDC whereas the prize for winning the BDO women's championships is only £8,000.

Re: darts
That was a really good final. It sounds crazy to say with a 103 average but I can't believe how badly MVG played. He was poor on the doubles and often he was all over the board looking for a treble.
That said, Wright was at the top of his game and deserved to win.
Strong stuff from Barry Hearn here on the BDO. He makes some good points but it does show the nature of the man

Re: darts
Just caught a little of the new BDO World Championship on Eurosport.
Kind of reminds me of an episode of Bullseye. It is shockingly poor. RIP the BDO.
Question for those more into the Darts than I am. In the PDC the fans are loud as flip throughout the matches, but in the BDO they are pretty quiet and it's classed as unsportsmanlike if they make any kind of noise during the matches.
Why the difference?

Re: darts
Up until BDO was shown on BBC it was still pretty vocal but I also checked out Eurosport coverage over weekend  Awful and empty tables etc.
This will be the last ever WBO Finals, they can't carry on like this surely.
