Rosbergs pace is good but I'm hoping Lewis is saving his softs? Not sure whether eother will need to stop againJohnny Byrne's Boots wrote:Hamilton now in third place on lap eighteen.
When Rosberg sees 44 in his mirrors it'll mindf**k him

I'd guess it's because those around him burned a few sets in Q2 and Q3 so he's got extra sets of new softs and can hammer them.

Strategy makes 0 sense to me today, don't understand going on softs earlier, then put Lewis on medium for the last stint?

Fair ****'s to Lewis 21st to 3rd, decent going and minimal damage done to the championship lead.
Rosberg having to win from the front with Lewis having loads of problems, again, seems to be the only way he can do it - untroubled from the front and Lewis with problems. Hopefully Lewis gives him a going over at Monza.

Re: Formula 1 2016 Thread
With the new tyres next season hopefully we'll be talking about racing instead of strategy.
I think Hamilton has shown us the dictionary definition of 'damage limitation'.

Re: Formula 1 2016 Thread
Hamilton got lucky with the safety car and the red flag.
I do wonder though about the tyre strategy after that and whether he could have got second place. Although it's easy to say with hindsight when they weren't sure how tyres would last beforehand.

New engine, same ****ing ****. Lewis absolutely cruising at the front, 16 laps left, engine blows, after Rosberg looked like ending 4th after a collision at the start.
It will be a miracle if Lewis wins the title this year.

If Rosberg doesn't win the title this year he never will the lucky ****.
Yes he has driven better this year, Singapore was exceptional by him, but Lewis is getting all the bad luck again.
Not only that but normally when you get hit that hard your car is damaged, Vettel's wrecked, his fine. Then when he clips Kimi's front wing, no puncture which can often happen.
The record books won't show it, but he is being handed this championship.

Re: Formula 1 2016 Thread
Hamilton has some sort of conspiracy theory in his head
........................
"We have so many engines for eight drivers and mine are the only ones failing," said the Briton.
"Someone has to give me some answers because it is just not acceptable."

Re: Formula 1 2016 Thread
Rosbergs spin yesterday was reminiscent of Vettel's in the title decider in Brazil in 2014(or 13'?). Spins across the whole pack and EVERYONE misses him completely, allowing him to recover. 9 times out of 10, someone hits the spinning car and it requires a nosecone change at the very least.
Rosberg has driven well this year but the luck is all going his way of that there can be no doubt.

Re: Formula 1 2016 Thread
Hamilton takes pole in Mexico, and Rosberg taking the other front row spot could have done Hamilton a big favour.
The Red Bulls set their Q2 times on the super soft tyres and hence start the race on them, whereas the Mercedes drivers will start on the softs. Until NR nicked second at the end of Q3, Verstappen on the super softs was alongside LH and had a good chance of beating him off the line due to better grip. By demoting him to third, NR has significantly reduced that danger to LH and brought it upon himself.
Should be an interesting start, given that overtaking here isn't that easy.

Hamilton wins, Rosberg happy with second as he's still on track for the title.
The interesting stuff was just behind with Verstappen penalised for cutting a corner to keep third place and Vettel completely losing it on the radio:- "Here's a message for Charlie, f**k off!" being the one that'll see him heavily fined.

Now it appears Vettel, who was promoted to third after Vestappen's five second penalty, has himself been given a ten second penalty for moving under braking while defending against Ricciardo, who for now has been given third place and Vettel drops to fifth.

Some of Vettel's antics yesterday were completely out of order. In fact all weekend, he seemed on a mission to offend pretty much everyone in the paddock. Utter knob of a bloke.Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote:Now it appears Vettel, who was promoted to third after Vestappen's five second penalty, has himself been given a ten second penalty for moving under braking while defending against Ricciardo, who for now has been given third place and Vettel drops to fifth.

Re: Formula 1 2016 Thread
Rosberg coasting to the title and the only way Hamilton is going to win this is a DNF for Rosberg. Such is the power and dominance of Mercedes that a mistake in qualifying or a poor start is not enough to stop either of them making the podium, so Hamilton needs Rosberg to collect nil points in one of the remaining races. Rosberg's car has been remarkably reliable whereas Hamilton's hasn't, it easy to understand Hamilton's frustrations of late and even as a big fan of him, some of his antics have been embarassing. However, I remain a fan and would love it if he could pull this one out of the bag. Rosberg will be one of the most fortuitous F1 champions if, as expected, he goes on to win this.
As for Vettel - pot, kettle, black?? I don't particularly like Verstappen either but Vettel was a prick yesterday.
