Yep, a very good start. Hopefully Sibley and Burns can go on to be our opening partnership for a very long time. Hopefully relieving the pressure at the top will allow Root to regain his form.

Quite complimentary of England's patient approach, and not flinging the bat at everything T20 style.

Stokes misses out on a ton playing a loose shot albeit a good catch from Taylor.

Wickets tumbling now and the Kiwis are back in it. I like their attack.

Curran gone for a duck. :(

Full collapse now in progress. Will we make 300? 8 down.

The test side we know and love is back :scarfer:

Looking set and then we have a mad hour and drop ourselves right in it.

Respectable first innings score in the end. It wouldn't be England without a customary batting collapse. We were 5 wickets down, I walked out of the room for a few minutes, suddenly we're 8 wickets down.

We're in a decent position. Challenging for the Kiwis to reach our score from here.

Very sleepy stuff so far. First proper appeal after 45 minutes.

And that a wasted review. 18 runs in 50 minutes I've counted.

Byes and no balls creeping in for England now. Need to sharpen up, all seems rather too relaxed. Especially from Archer.

Rushing to the new ball to squeeze two overs before lunch and not taking it.Not starting with Archer (though he did bowl utter crap when used) Not sure what the plan was this morning.

Confusing.

Just going through the motions, waiting for something to happen.

Still wicketless in the first 80 minutes today. New ball shortly. Lead getting on for 70. I can see a classic England collapse when we bat. All out of 120 odd I reckon.

The 7th wicket finally is taken at 577/7. Led now at 224. Partnership was worth 261

New Zealand slogging the ball for fun.

Looks like a innings defeat is on the cards sadly.

Santner showing Leach how it's done.

Root should be sacked as captain, he is clearly not up to it. His paint-by-numbers method can get through in England with our excellent (home) attack but it is severely lacking abroad. Need some one with imagination. Also we need to work out this bloody kookaburra ball (it should be banned to be honest) we need to use it in the county champ or in an early season test. We are clueless with it.

Joe owes us a big one today. Lets hope he can find some form
