Post by wolf359 »

Summer of cricket starts today in Ireland.

ODI - cut to 45 overs, looks cold. Archer makes his debut.

England won toss and bowl.

Smart wicket keeping from Foakes - great eyes to stop a potential stumping.

Ireland in trouble now. 111-6

England get home with some proper batting from Foakes and T Curran, not at full strength or full force but unlike the Jocks last year England found a way.

Little for the Paddies looked useful on debut, only 19 and took a 4 fer.

Vince given out edging, even after review, but he didn't hit it, hit the ground. Barmy decision, but it keeps the Asian English, sorry Pakistani supporters happy

Nice for a weakened England team, win by 7 wickets.

Archer looking very good. Could be the fast bowler we have been searching for.

I find it quite annoying that some of the players questioned him walking straight into the team - is it really their place to question selection? He has clearly shown a desire to play for England and has had to wait years to qualify.

No doubt we'll all be treated to Allan Lamb's opinion on the situation.

Archer looked good at the Oval on Weds, despite the rain. A tidy 6 over spell and his pace was unbelievable - you could just about pick the ball out when other bowlers were on, but with him you just heard the ball smack into Jo’s Buttler’s gloves!

I saw Archer play for Sussex last season. I didn't know much about him at the time to be honest, but at the time I do remember being amazed how far back the wicket keeper was standing....

3rd ODI today, no Archer again. England suffered with the ball but started well chasing 359 to win (the 5th highest score ever if successful)

Great chase from England today, made it look easy. Quality from Bairstow at the top.

But got out again, as unfortunately he tends to do so at the highest level. Roy heading for another 100 and England currently chasing down another big target with ease .
