Mike Dean

Post by Marky » Sat Sep 14, 2019 1:02 pm

I see the only referee where I have at times questioned their integrity (against us) is on duty for Monday. Have we ever won a match with him in charge ? I can only remember his dodgy decisions. At least we have VAR to check any abuse of his powers.

The guy hates us.

He's no worse than anyone else.

Of course we have won games where he was the referee.

The fact he was removed from refereeing the 2006 final out of questions of impartiality is still quite amusing

I do find him very annoying, but he's not the only one.

Says a lot about the standard and view of our officials when we didn't have one single representative at the last World Cup.

Last 7 for us that he did:

19/11/16 A Spurs. We lost 3-2
2/1/17 H ManU. We lost 2-0
25/10/17 A Spurs EFL Cup. We won 3-2
3/12/17 A ManC. We lost 2-1
4/1/18 A Spurs. We drew 1-1
15/12/18 A Fulham. We won 2-0
10/8/19 H ManC. We lost 5-0

Seems to do us more Away than Home. Very card-happy, as well.

I wouldn't want to bump into him in a dark alley at night

This is the one that sticks in my mind. With the score at 0-0 Dean sent Feghouli off for a 50:50 challenge with Phil Jones, who went down rolling and screaming like a little girl. Unsurprisingly the red was rescinded.

Mark ‘look at meeee!’ Clattenburg would have been proud.

Has anyone ever seen him and Jasper Carrott in the same room?

Please,NO this thread is just wrong, Mike is a model referee, keeping out of spotlight at all times, concentrating on getting the all important decisions right, keeping the players safety of paramount importance, making the right calls at the right time with split second accuracy, and keeps the game free flowing, and entertaining for the fans, and all this with a sense of humour, unrivalled in other referees, my dear old dad used to say, if you cannot remember the ref he has had a good game, Mike who?

Not sure I agree that losing to ManU/ManC and 'taking 4 points' from 3 games at Spurs is proof of ref bias.

I wasn't commenting either way, AI.
Marky wondered if we had ever won a match with MD in charge & having looked it up I thought I'd add a few more.

I did a thread with some stats for refs back in December/January:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=173804

Dean actually has a fair distribution of results for us in the league.

That's quite excellent work, Aaron.
