Hopefully the Essex boys won't be too hungover today. Forecast still looks wet, likely only to get in an hours play at best before the rain sets in.

Have a bowl to avoid the risk of the early clatter of wickets as I expect Somerset will have prepared a minefield to try and get a result in whatever time is available.

Somerset have to take 20 wickets to win the championship, the negative way would be to put them in to delay batting and hope the weather intervenes or alternatively and positively bat first before the pitch wears and spins like all Taunton pitches do and take enough time out of the game by scoring 400+

Either way can't see Somerset winning this

Leach is in for Somerset I believe, could be a momentous week for Essex!

Never bank on the weather forecast. Best to get in first and bat as long as you can. Taunton will resemble Kandy come day 4 if it stays dry, best to have them batting on it.

Somerset win the toss and bat.

They've picked 3 spinners!

So we would have batted too otherwise there would have been no toss

The county ground would have been packed to the rafters

I'd like to see Wheater standing up to Cook, bring them back in their crease

This is why I didn't fancy having a bat, we could have gone a long way to losing the game in one session

Gamble they had to take with the draw being in our favour and the likelihood of losing the best part of 2 days play. Will soon be off for the rest of today looking at the radar

Early strike but not getting excited, as we've still got to bat on this minefield
