Haven't watched this in years' but shouldn't it be Lewis Hamilton ? If not, just what has he got to to win it?

Be White. Lewis is disliked, see my F1 thread comments. He should be knighted not winning silly bbc awards. The GOAT.Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 8:07 pm Haven't watched this in years' but shouldn't it be Lewis Hamilton ? If not, just what has he got to to win it?
I’ve given up on saying he should be recognised , hence Ben stokes.

Lewis second, stokes wins (amazing how quick we are to forgive a white guy) yes he was amazing, but you have to think someone else would not be forgiven.

Re: Bbc spoty
Oh that one. Almost every F1 driver lives in Monaco. Why is Lewis singled out. Sir Nick Faldo lives in the US and has done since the early 90’s no one bitched at his knighthood. I’m afraid there is more than his residency behind the opposition to Hamilton getting his deserved recognition. The very much liked Jensen button lived in Monaco and now Las Vegas but he don’t get anywhere near the aggro.
Im sure he pays the correct taxes for his residency like many sports/famous people.

Re: Bbc spoty
Mo Farah has a knighthood. Black if i remember correctly
And not even British.
Oh he has won this award too.
Agree though, I can't really see why Hamilton hasn't been given a knighthood.
The SPOTY though is more likely down to people liking the way he comes across less than personality vacuums like Farah , who is one of those "characters" people love so much nowadays. Haven't you seen the Mobot??
He's funny right?
Never mind he can't hear doorbells, improved massively at a time in his career when stats say nobody does under a now banned coach and then says we are all racist for doubting him.
Also believe that Farah has been resident in the States for a long while now, so would imagine the Exchequer doesn't see too much of his earnings like Hamilton but the public doesn't give him as much grief for some reason
Reckon that is down to the fact that Hamilton earns about as much as Farah does per year, in a week.
It's ok to offshore your earnings it appears, as long as you're not too rich
TBH i'd give Hamilton a knighthood for just tweeting that "boys don't wear princess dresses" but he receives minus points sadly for taking it down, when the Twitter Trans Hit Squad went mad, instead of telling them to f*** off like James Hunt would almost certainly have done.

Re: Bbc spoty
You are right Whitey.
Without a doubt Hamilton is one of the the top 5 sportsmen this country has ever produced.
It's crazy that you can win a TDF or a gold medal and get a knighthood, but a 6 time WC in the most famous sport in the world gets nowt.

Re: Bbc spoty
I suppose the only thing you can say is that the car makes up a large part of the equation but f*** it , the world's biggest ****er, Nigel Mansell, would have been made PM by now if he'd won it 6 times.

I"d take Hamilton's personality over Stokes'westham, eggyandchips wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 6:11 pm The clue is in the name- Sports Personality of the year.
Hamilton is somewhat bland but has so far avoided being the sort of cheeky 'character' that drunkenly stoves peoples heads in and takes stupid videos of himself mocking mentally disabled kids.
People can try and excuse that all they like but he's clearly a bit of a ****. Not really a debate is it?
Put it this way, I'd imagine in a time gone by when people were more accountable for their actions, he wouldn't even have made the list of nominations.
