Obviously a quicker pitch but harsh on Bess.
4 wicket Root is our frontline spinner now.

4 now, 57-4 since the break. Ball doing a little bit but some soft wickets here. Saying that I think our bowlers will clean up on here.

Stokes having some choice words with someone in the crowd as he walked off

off for light, the integrity of the game is important but in a stadium with flood lights no wonder people get annoyed with Test cricket. In the umpires defence there was 3 minutes left of the offical play.

This bit on the Cricinfo article about Stokes's misdemeanour made me laugh:

'The spectator's comments were not broadcast, though it is understood that the spectator involved, who is middle-aged, suggested Stokes looked like the singer, Ed Sheeran.'

Could have been worse, could have suggested he sounds like him.

As he was walking off, having been dismissed for two in the final session, Stokes was caught on television coverage responding to a fan off-camera, shouting: “Come and say it to me outside the ground, you ****ing four-eyed ****.”

What the spectator said to Stokes was not audible on camera but witnesses in the area suggested to the Guardian that a middle-aged male supporter wearing a South Africa one-day shirt had walked more than 50 metres to abuse Stokes, allegedly calling him a “ginger ****” and referencing the singer Ed Sheeran

Depending on how the match referee, Andy Pycroft, interprets the incident, Stokes could be charged with the level three offence of “Threat of assault on another player, player support personnel, umpire or Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an international match.”

Anyone heard his commentary on TV and Radio?

On the radio, he's provocative and more annoying than Boycott.

Yet, on TV he comes across pretty articulate and reasonable. :o

I find Kevin (it's all about me) Pieterson equally irritating, tries to be one of the boys when it's clear that Nasser,Athers & Holding struggle with him

Pope goes for another 50, great stand of 100. Unlucky chopping on. SA looked lost this morning, just waiting for something to happen and it now has.

Buttler time, will he make double figures?

Another good knock from Pope.

Buttler probably knows he needs a score here or that's his lot.

Root follows and Curran gets a 1st baller, (terrible shot) good bowling from Nortje. Wicket doing a bit with is not terrible from an English point of view.

Decent recovery to make 300+ for 7. Would guess 350 would be a good total given the flurry of wickets yesterday.
