Re: Boxing thread
Dawson got turned over last night.
He really reminded me of Froch in his fight with Kessler. He could've knocked Pascal out, or at least down on a few occasions, but then seemed to step off the gas and let Pascal get back with it.
The fight was stopped in the 11th after a bad clash of heads. Dawson started pouring of blood instantly.
Pascal deserved the win. He was four up on my card going into the 11th.

Cheers tel never got to see it, fancied dawson to win it tbh, i had him down as the best in the division by some way and i wasnt overly impressed with pascal when he fought froch despite the actual fight being a cracker but by all accounts he is much improved since moving up to light heavy which is his natural weight division! would love to see him fight froch at lightheavy, i think froch could be a real threat at that weight!

Re: Boxing thread
Dawson just never really let his hands go all fight. He had Pascal hurt bad a couple of times, the main time being at the start of the 11th, just before the clash of heads. Pascal was about to go down, and Dawson then decided to try the jab formula.
Pascal looked gassed after about six rounds, but kept having success in spurts, which won him a lot of rounds.
Considering how good Dawson looked in beating Adamek, I was shocked at how off the boil he looked last night.
Froch would reign surpreme at light heavy

Haye has released an update video - http://news.boxrec.com/news/2010/youll- ... aye-update
He basically claims he isn't the 'bitch', and that all the truth is going to come out in the next few days.
Also says he should be fighting again by November.

In other news: It looks like Rafael Marquez is going to pull out of his fight with Juan Manuel Lopez next month, due to a thumb injury. That's really bad news, as I had that down for a possible fight of the year contender.
Bradley/Alexander has also been made it seems

Re: Boxing thread
Haye versus Adamek would be a cracker of a fight and possibly the toughest fight outside of the klitskhos for haye to take as adamek is pretty mobile and will go looking for haye right from the first bell, for me Haye, a bit like Lennox Lewis raises his game to the level of his opponent and stands more chance of getting knocked out off someone who can't get him sufficiently motivated than one of the bigger names so i hope this comes off! Bradley versus Alexander should be a good fight, would have picked Alexander all day long until the Kotelnik fight, now i'm not so sure!
Re: Boxing thread
Margarito has been refused a licence in California, it looks like Nevada and Texas may follow suit, good.

I think it's on Primetime, I got an email a few days ago.
IIRC it said you can pay through Sky Box Office, it was about 6 quid or you can hunt down a dodgy stream.

Re: Boxing thread
Adamek struggled bigtime with michael grant which puts into question how he would cope with haye, he certainly wouldnt be able to handle the klitskhos going off last nights showing and it appears thats who he is most interested in fighting odly enough, you would think given hayes size thats who he would favour, despite looking decent against chris arreola, going off last night i think haye would knock him out,but it would be good while it lasted!

I'm hoping this never happens.
If it does, I'm shutting my eyes, sticking my fingers in my ears and going blah, blah until it's over.

Heavweight boxing f*cking stinks! Wlad klitskho is fighting Sam Peter who after his last title shot against Vitali shouldnt be allowed in a ring again nevermind a world title shot! Vitali is fighting Shannon Briggs, a man who was shot to pieces ten years ago, and now this, though to be fair to haye outside of the brothers this is financially the best option for haye, and it will create interest as both these fighters have the ability with their mouths to big this fight up and there does seem to be a bit of needle between them, my bet is there will be fisty cuffs at one of the pres conferences to promote the fight creating even more interest, just a shame it's a complete no contest and imo haye could do him in one round if he wishes to!

Backhanders all the way for that one.
Huge stadium needs filling so get the Pac Man in with a Mexican and hey presto. Everyone's quids in.
At least it will be a scrap if that's any consolation.

Re: Boxing thread
Boxing returns to Saturday night on Sky, Martinez v Burns should be good while it lasts, I expect Martinez to win by KO though.
Re: Boxing thread
This thread is very quiet with Tel not about, has he been banned or is he just away on holiday? Pakistan?
Great fight last night, didn't think Burns could do it and Martinez would wear him down and get to him in the end but he proved me wrong, brilliant.

Think Tel may have been a bit of a naughty boy once to often. There was a sticky about misbehaving which had him written all over it. Bit of a shame!beckton wrote:This thread is very quiet with Tel not about, has he been banned or is he just away on holiday? Pakistan?

I thought Burns done really well. Although I must say Martinez didn't look anything like the boxer that faced Nicky Cook before. I think Cook would have beaten that Martinez as well.
Not taking anything away from Burns though. He was great last night. Thought he lived a bit dangerously at times!!
