Yep agree with that. No shenanigans outside, less shenanigans inside.

Shame. The club will no doubt make an example of those it id's, as it won't be able to do much else, in case it gets clobbered.

Beer eh? sheesh.

Right, I've just read through this entire thread and thought it was time to add my opinion to the ever meandering tangents of this thread (although i will try and stay on course).

Whilst I feel a lifetime ban is quite excessive, rules were broken but were they enough to warrant a lifetime ban? In my opinion, no. The punishment needs to fit the crime. Should they get away with it scot free? No. Should they be barred for life? No.

Whilst the first invasion can probably be put down to emotions running high, can you really say that for the 2nd and third goals? Call me cynical, but i think once people had saw they could get away with it the first time, everyone started joining in, because they knew they could.

The mentions of all the other pitch invasions, seemingly condoning the pitch invasions (apologies if this was not the intention of that post) have almost all been after securing promotions or not getting relegated. I know this was a game against our most bitter of rivals, but ultimately it was just to get through to the 3rd round of the Carling Cup, hardly the same.

But, would i grass on these people? No. Why? Because in the end they didn't really do much. Yes they delayed the game, and i was initially worried that it would be an unwelcome distraction for our players which could then affect their momentum, because I'm sure as soon as Junior's first went in, they wanted to get straight back into it and push for the second. The only time I got really irritated was when the invaders jumped on Carlton Cole's back when he wasn't expecting it. If he wasn't as strong that could've easily have resulted in an injury that could keep him out for a month or so. How would we all feel if this was the case?

Ultimately, 95%+ of the fans behaved themselves, but their good behaviour and reputations have been slightly tarnished by a few idiots (that's all they are) who did do wrong but will probably be made an example out of.

PS. to cover all of the other tangents: I was at the game, so i feel i can comment and not suffer any wrath. Despite living in Farnham, i was born and used to live in the East end and am proud of that, despite my accent being more surrey than cockney. I like the Irish and have no problem with where you're supporting from as long as you love West Ham. I think that's everything isn't it?

I don't know any of those people (not that I'd say anything if I did). The pics being published is enough punishment, to be honest, they all look so moronic. I saw that woman on the pitch at the time, and she looks even more stupid close up. If she's got kids, I bet they're making plans to emigrate.

I don't like the way that this is diverting attention from the real issue, which was the trouble outside the ground. The pitch invasion is just a nonsense.

Can everyone stop arguing the silly sods that ran onto the pitch probably regreted it 30 seconds after running on there was no hint of any trouble from anyone that ran on from the BML or the rio stand, the lads that got on from the chicken run next to wall the first time DID want to cause trouble but that got sorted by the old bill, also millwall didnt want to get on the pitch. By the way did anyone see one of our lads run into the millwall fans on his own?

This game was bigger than a cup final for quite a few though...

Which shows those people up as rather sad. Basically we beat a lower league team at our place, hardly the reason to celebrate in such an OTT fashion - to be honest I found it quite embarrassing that some of our fans were so happy about this. Give me one of the wins over Manure that Curbs specialised in any day.

To me that's Sky Sports idea of a good result, one of the plucky under dogs having the gumption to beat a big four club so they can talk about what 'Fergie' did wrong for the whole of the next week.

A lot of fans enjoyed playing and beating a team we have 100 years local rivalry with, don't play regularly and haven't beaten in something like 20 years.

Now I'm no fan of Man United but blimey, you'd rather beat them and lose to Millwall? In my book the Millwall game was the must win game of the season.

We couldn't find a striker in 9 months so god knows what chance we've got of finding these.

I think that's over the top. I'd go for something less draconian - death by firing squad, for example.

West Ham defender Jonathan Spector admits he didn't know how to handle the pitch invasion for their Carling Cup clash with Millwall.

"I can't say I have ever experienced anything like that in my life," Spector told the Washington Times. "It was a shame that a few fans can spoil the game for everyone else. That is not the way to promote the sport or to promote the English game to the rest of the world. It's hard to enjoy a win when that other stuff is going on."

On the bus ride to the stadium, Spector and his teammates saw signs of impending trouble: boarded-up shops and a heavy police presence. Inside, while fans were hurling insults at one another, "you drown them out until they are actually out there [on the field] with you," he said.

"You try not to get angry because obviously they are very intoxicated. They are saying, 'Great job!' and you're saying, 'Thanks, but would you mind getting off the field so we can continue the game?' You try to help shepherd them off, but at the same time you've got to be careful. You don't really feel threatened; a lot of it was kind of funny because there were some big guys with their shirts off, waving them around and sliding around the field."

My 24 year old nephew feels the same way as Bobcar. He's an only child, very close to his mum
