Rarely do I get any info, but.....

A mate of mine is a solicitor. He called me this evening to say that a client of his, who is a director at Celtic, told him this evening that West Ham are close to a deal to sign Gary Hooper. Price mentioned was £10mn which sounds FAR too high, but I'm just passing on the info as it was told to me.

Hooper is English, 24 years old and scored 29 goals for Celtic this season including all 5 in the last day 5-0 victory over Hearts. He was sold to Celtic by Scunthorpe in 2010 for £2.4mn when Nigel Adkins was manager. Adkins' Southampton bid for him in January and are thought to be keen again this summer.

Sounds like too big a risk for a £10mn punt, but IF it's true the club are keeping a very tight lid on it. Could make sense if it's true that Charlton are after Baldock in a deal for Solly, the young right back.

Would be pleased with Hooper. Young enough to still adapt to the PL but has experience as well. Good goalscorer, but £10m is a bit much.

I saw Samaras in a couple of Celtic games last season. He almost looked sharp on one or two ocassions but then he remembered himself and started flick-ing his hair about like a shampoo ad, forgot about the game.

He was good enough to score 2 against us a few years back and I bet he would do the same if he played against us again! Not saying we should sign him, just that he isn't as **** as some are making out.

I agree that the SPL is a different ketle of fish to even the Chumps let alone the EPL but as I live up here and see a few games it is pretty obvious that Hooper is better than the vast majority - but not sure that he's £10mill's worth.

Agree! he should never start a game unless injuries!

Not happy with a 2 year deal for jussi.I would have much prefered to sign Stockdale a good young promising keeper and let him and Henderson fight it out to be Number 1.
