The 2013 Summer Transfer Window Poll

Re: The 2013 Summer Transfer Window Poll
I voted undecided. One more half decent striker and I'd have been a yes. I just worry (not to a ridiculous degree like some on the transfer thread) that we could be left very thin up front.
If Carlton re-signs I think I'll be in the yes category. Not his biggest fan, but he's decent enough cover.

Eggs in one Basket... jeez...
Eggs GO in baskets, good place for them. Otherwise they're rolling around all over the shop, getting lost, getting smashed...chaos.
Want an egg?
Yeah?
Cool... They're in the basket!!

With the news that CFC is back, I'd like to amend my vote to "yes" as my reasoning no longer applies. Another striker has been signed so objectives have been achieved.

What he said. Undecided to yes if CC signs.

I am now happy with the business done
Carroll, Downing,, Rat & Adrian in on permanent deals
Carlton Cole retained and most importantly so was Diame
We are stronger than last season

Voted YES
I think we've had a very good window with the signings of Carroll, Rat, Adrian and Downing.
I think it would've been difficult to get any other quality signings in with our budget and wage structure, yes we could have bought in some squad players but realistically would that improve our results over the season? I personally don't think so. One more striker to back up Carroll would be nice and if Carlton signs then I will be hopeful for another very good season.

If ever there was one, this is clearly a case for going out and buying another basket..or have I missed the point

I voted No because we failed to address, for whatever reasons, a glaring gap in the squad.

Re: The 2013 Summer Transfer Window Poll
I'm fairly pleased with who we've signed although there's a touch of 'gilding the lilly' about Stewart Downing. But as long as we re-sign Cole I'd say the forward line is fine.

A somewhat odd window, mainly because we did our business early. Had we signed all the players we have in a frantic 2 hours last night we'd probably be overchuffed

Re: The 2013 Summer Transfer Window Poll
I put "Neither". I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I'm really disappointed we didn't sign a second striker. Carlton coming back eases the pain of that a little bit, but we could and should have done better. That said, Downing, Carroll, Rat and Adrian are all quality signings... with the jury still out on Whitehead (for the foreseeable future). C to C- if I'm grading the thing.

Too late to change your vote now Carlton is coming home.
Re: The 2013 Summer Transfer Window Poll
Voted No; Even though I feel we made good additions to the squad, we needed another Striker for back up, Plan B and competition for Carroll.

Voted Yes. Overall very good. Not happy about Carlton coming back but we need someone. We should be fine this season.

Re: The 2013 Summer Transfer Window Poll
I feel we could do better than getting Carlton back (mladen petric for instance) but as a staunch believer of FFP I can understand the way the chairmen have handled things..I would have liked to have seen the likes of mccartney, diarra, henderson and vaz te shifted out and a CM and a proper striker to have come in.
The only criticism I've got is that they should not ,under any circumstances, have been so outspoken about any other striker coming in as back up for andy carroll..that's a quote not befitting a chairman of a football club like ours and it gives other teams an edge over us in doing business.

Re: The 2013 Summer Transfer Window Poll
I voted yes. I think those going quite apoplectic about what they see as a poor window need to pause for thought about what we've done. I can't remember us ever signing two England internationals in their 20's and a national team captain who should help provide the solution to what has been a long term problem position for us. That's pretty good in my opinion. As is the fact that we lost none of our better players- that in itself would have been cause for surprise, relief and celebration in previous times.
Yes, yesterday was a bit of a damp squid but signing Carlton today (our third England international in his 20s signing come to think of it ) should see us covered decently enough.
