Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017
.
Norveit never given a proper chance in his right position. When he did play there, thought he did ok. Not saying he would have been great but just never given a proper chance imo. Was certainly decent before he joined us.
So with him gone, we must have another midfielder in the bag. Just trying to think who is injury prone and under £5m that we are replacing him with?

Seriously? One of the worst?!sharphammer wrote:no tears here... one of the worst we've ever had
I would have kept him personally. Good professional who needed a chance in his proper position.

Nordtveit's main position at Borussia the year before he joined us was left sided CB in a 3.Hamburger wrote:.So with him gone, we must have another midfielder in the bag.
We have Kouyate, Fernandes, Obiang and Noble ostensibly competing for two central midfield places unless one of them is to be moved.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017
That's simply untrue - he played well against Bournemouth as a DM early on in the season, was excellent against Everton later on in the season, had a fine game against Stoke as well. One poor game against Liverpool where the whole team was trash.
I still think Fernandes is better further forward than at CM - he was signed as a more attacking midfielder, right? Then again, when Kouyate signed he was a CB...bubbles1966 wrote:We have Kouyate, Fernandes, Obiang and Noble ostensibly competing for two central midfield places unless one of them is to be moved.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017
Easily one of the worst. A complete waste of time. He was worse than nothing. Strolling around, half arsing it. Couldn't trap a bag of cement.
Useless.
Useless.
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017
Good player tbh, brilliant pass on him and could break up play decently. Just didn't get enough time and probably wouldn't as Obiang is better in his role.
I'd expect we got something like 8m for him.

That's some wages freed up, was this the 'interesting' departure?
Surely we won't be selling Kouyate now?

Highly doubt we even got half that.Lostcoco wrote:Good player tbh, brilliant pass on him and could break up play decently. Just didn't get enough time and probably wouldn't as Obiang is better in his role.

Don't count on it, the website originally said 'free transfer'.

Those saying one of the worst ever; either you've only been a West Ham fan for a year or after years of trauma you've blanked a lot of players out of your mind.
Good luck to him.
Good luck to him.

Unless we both read it wrong. Which is entirely possible!Stevey wrote:I know he hardly set the world alight (understatement) but I'm surprised we couldn't demand any sort of transfer fee whatsoever, especially given his pretty solid reputation in Germany, along with his age, experience and remaining length of his contract.
Edit: Seems they've changed free transfer to undisclosed fee on the article.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017
No doubt blanked a lot of players out but if you actually look objectively at Nordtveit's 'contributions' when on the pitch, he is right up there. Only saved by the fact he was a free transfer.Hayden wrote:Those saying one of the worst ever; either you've only been a West Ham fan for a year or after years of trauma you've blanked a lot of players out of your mind.

Which isn't a surprise.

remember all of those and beyond... Yes we've had some dross, but in the context of where we are and the modern game he has to be deemed one of the worst!Dan1326 wrote:

Alan Mcknight in his era, gary breen in his era, Havard Nordveit in his era etc.
