We need one top quality striker in before Man United. If by Man United we've signed Hart, Zabaleta, Arnautovic and Hernandez we'd have improved massively, anyone signed after that would be a bonus.

3 of those above could easily happen before August.

I think its more likely we have only signed Hart and Zabaleta.

Seeing as how we didn't sign any strikers in january its nice to see we built up a long list of options in the last 6 months, if Hernandez isn't interested is there any alternative to Gray? At least fletcher might get a chance at last.

I have to admit, I'm terrible during transfer windows. Like a silly kid I actually allow myself to believe that this'll be the year they shut us all up and go for it.

They'll go for any bargain that is out in front of them regardless of whether they improve us or benefits the team.

I have no confidence that this is the plan. Thats a comical way of planning for big signings. We will be hovering around the relegation zone by transfer deadline day with our current squad. Which will just mean panic buying another Zaza as the deals we want slip away. I hate the mentality that people have when saying the window doesnt close until the end of August. We can not afford to have this mentality.

Listening to Dean Ashton, supported by other ex players talking about the perception of where a team is headed affecting a player's tnoughts when deciding on a move, it only confirms that the longer you leave quality signings the less as a generalisation your chances of completing them eventually get. Especially so once the season starts for if it starts poorly as ours may well do, the effects can be multiplied, it is a very dangerous game and ultimately can be more expensive in terms of 'bribery' payments to make up for that declining appeal. It's a very fine balancing act when funds are low and you don't want to miss out on players who may or may not become available later. It's not a balancing act that we have generally got right either.
