Keeping my fingers crossed, but hope Wilshere doesn't get in the way to prevent this from happening, because that is my take on Jinxed's post

I was thinking the same about him and other youth players. We have to be cautious not to completely close the door by signing unnecessary squad additions. Central defence is a case in point. It has been argued that another central defender is required as cover. However, lets put a bit of faith in the likes of Burke and Rice.

Pretty obvious from pre season that Bilic is checking them out for that role. So far they seem to be doing a decent job of persuasion though bigger tests to,come.

Indeed...

That we're going for Balde indicates that we are still looking to fill that position... so I'd imagine if he doesn't come in, someone else will. It'd be good to get rid of Sakho too... he strikes me as a Harry type signing, I do wonder if he can be convinced to drop a division

Wilshere - if he comes in and works great... if he doesn't, we still have a decent group (Noble, Obiang, Kouyate, Fernandes) to choose from. A very West Ham 'risky' type signing. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't...

This is such a no-brainer.

Put out all the stops on BALDE before the transplant window closes.

If the current signings and the ones being talked about come off, this season coming should be very exciting! Should be aiming for 7th and if a bigger team (or 2) slip up who knows!

Great window, this Balde chap if we can convince him to come could make some of the other European players think twice about joining as well.

Agree with most other posters that a DM is required, hopefully being investigated by the club, also I would use Rice/Burke as CD cover.

Happy Hammers once again?

with 1 prem loan still permitted I think we will end up with Wilshere now, especially as Jinxed has said it's gathering pace. Not sure how I feel about it, can't say i've really seen him play much - mainly because he's always bloody injured.

Really pleased with this window so far though, i still would like to see another creative mid come in but thats just me personally as I think if lanzini was to get injured there is no one that can step in and do what he does.

Wow... another two very impressive signings if we can pull them off.

That would complete our best window in recent history. Maybe ever. Solid players in the right areas.

Is the correct answer. A tremendous talent who desperately wants to join his childhood team. Provided the package takes account of potential injury issues this would be excellent business.

Why over the age of 23? Thought the rule was they had to have been registered with an English or Welsh club for 3 seasons before their 21st birthday. That would make Fletcher number 8
